“Best comfort food around”

OMG, their red gravy is the best. Of course the mac & cheese is the best paired with fried catfish.

“Don't Miss This Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

If you're looking for an authentic "New Awlins" experience, Rocky's is a must. This is how good restaurants were in New Orleans back in the 40s, 50s & 60s. Not the fancy ones, but the good, family-friendly, neighborhood ones. My absolute favorite thing is the bruccioloni, but they only serve it on Wednesdays (I think); but the stuffed peppers, baked macaroni (and cheese), shrimp poboys, roast beef poboys, macaroni and meatballs with red gravy, hamburger steak, veal cutlet, veal parm, eggplant parm, baked chicken... you get the idea. All FANTATSTIC! Just like my MawMaw and Memere used to make. (My mama wasn't such a great cook.) The ladies cooking in the kitchen aren't quite as entertaining as they were 20, 30, or 40 years ago (loud fighting and sometimes a slap or two), but you will feel like you are right at home. If you're not pretentious or too particular, that is. Oh, and the portions are all huge, and the prices are all low, compared to most places in the city.

“Best available restaurant in St. Bernard Parish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

This is definitely a family style restaurant. Food is quite good, wide variety of choices, huge portions. Self serve. Ambiance is....quite basic...1950s lighting and flooring. Very popular and quite busy. Not much parking.

“NOM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

Don't expect fine atmosphere. DO expect DELICIOUS food and extremely casual setting! It's actually quite nicer than it was pre-Katrina, decor-wise! A Chalmette landmark/must dine when you are in town. Baked mac and hamburger steak with gravy. UH MUH GAH. That is the TRUTH! :D

“Friendly, local hangout with good food and big portions.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

Affectionately referred to in Da Parish as Rocky's, this restaurant has been a St. Bernard institution for decades. The atmosphere is very casual, and it is frequented by a broad spectrum of customers from fishermen to Parish leaders. The food is consistent and good, and the portions are enormous. Consider splitting orders (especially sides) unless you want to leave with boxes of leftovers. Good seafood, down-home Italian fare, and poboys. The macaroni and cheese and onion rings are the best of the sides. All in all, a good restaurant with enjoyable food and a fun atmosphere. Worth the trip!
