I was in Baton Rouge for work for about eight weeks. I stayed in the La Quinta on Arcadian Thruway and Chase Suites on Corporate Blvd. The LaQuinta wasn't that great, it is walking distance to TJ's Ribs which has amazing baby back ribs. I had some friends have their van get broken into during the stay there hence the move to Chase Suites on Corporate Blvd. This is a very nice, full kitchen, nice bed, and pull out couch. This is in walking distance to the Fox & The Hound, which is a sports bar with pool tables. Then there is also a 5 minute walk to On The Border Mexican restaurant, Macaroni Grill, Barnes and Noble, and Unites Artist Movie Theater. This is all in a nice area of Baton Rouge and your less than a mile from I-10. I walked downtown on day and parked near the river close to Third St. and Florida. Visited the Old Capitol Building, which was very interesting. It has been kept in great condition. If your downtown then it would be worth the stop to walk in and take a look. It's free and will not take too long to get through as it is only two floors. The surrounding area is nice with views of the river and a few small restaurants and pubs. The Planetarium sits across from the Old Capitol Building and right in front of that is the USS Kidd. There are also two casinos close to this area if your interested in gambling during your stay in Red Stick. The Mall of Louisiana is about 5 minutes away from College Dr. onto I-10. Its just like any other mall you have ever been to, but if you wanna do some shopping it is a nice big mall. If you get a chance to travel down toward Gonzales, try and visit the Houmas house plantation and have lunch there. The food is amazing and you can take a tour of the surrounding grounds which is also a great sight. Near the Houmas house is another restaurant called The Cabin which has good food and is set in a 1800's slave cabin, both of these places have great Louisiana food. The restaurant I enjoyed the most was Mike Anderson's seafood. There are two locations that I went to one in Gonzales in the Holiday Inn and another in B.R. off College Dr. All in all baton rouge was a nice visit, ran out of things to do fairly quick.
