“Third World Stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The lobby was very nice and clean, but the rest of the hotel needed updating, maintenance, and a deep cleaning. The pool was so nasty that my kids did not want to go swimming. Other than the beds, everything in the room was in need of help. Discovered a cheese puff, dead bug, and hair in the bathroom, not to mention the tile & grout needed repair. With what may have have been 20 year old carpets in need of cleaning, we had the flip flops ready for wear, right out of the shower.

Checked out after one night and went next door to a really nice, clean, well-maintained hotel.

My family and I were on our way home from vacation, and we needed a place to stay over night. We decided to book two rooms at this La Quinta. Upon parking, we immediately were concerned that belongings were going to get stolen from our vehicle. We already had low expectations due to the appearance of the exterior, but we at least expected mattresses in the rooms. THERE WERE NO BEDS IN THE FIRST ROOM. Literally only two empty box springs sat on the floor. We then moved on to the second room, and as we opened the door to the inside, we were bombarded by an unmistakable, strong smell of marijuana. We ran to the lobby and checked out with a full refund as fast as we could. Perhaps this was all a prank. I'm still processing.

We stayed here one night and were impressed by our room and the staff who were very friendly and helpful. We went to the casino in the evening which we enjoyed too - although it is quite a hike to get there. A good option if you are in Baton Rouge.

The service is so friendly I thought I was with family. We enjoyed the continental breakfasts, swimming, resting, and walking. The location if right off of the I-10 highway and close to Walmart, Barnes Nobles, Community Coffee House, and most importantly LSU.

This hotel does not provide complimentary access to a local fitness center as it describes in its hotel description online and the reception staff were un apologetic when we asked about this facility. The cell phone signal is really bad in this hotel too.

I had a relaxing stay and the people were very friendly. Breakfast was continental and fair. Hotel was right off Hwy 10 so I had learned to get around easily. Walmart and other shopping/dining is at the next exit. The mall was about 10 miles away but also right off the highway.
