“Decent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

We were a family of 6 (three adults and three small children) traveling to San Antonio for a family reunion and stayed at this TownePlace Suites in BR because they had a two bedroom suite. A real plus because it allows everyone to stay in the same room and the room rate was less than what we would have had to pay for two rooms -- extremely convenient.

This particular hotel is somewhat unique in that it is essentially located in a suburban area -- which means its also in a very quite part of BR. The accommodations were about par for a TownPlace, although it did seem a bit "cramped" in that the property is relatively small, even the parking area was kind of squeezed together but we had no problem in terms of always finding an open space. The two bedroom suite did not seem quite as large or open as other TownePlace Suites we have stayed at but it was certainly more space than one would get in a regular hotel room and with 3 small kids it did give them some additional room to spread out. All in all the space was a real plus.

Hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant and the rooms seemed clean and well kept. Had an indoor pool but I can't comment on that as we did not get an opportunity to enjoy it.

The bottom line is this is a good place to stay, especially if you want a quiet location and at a reasonable price. Its especially a good place when travelling as we were as a family of 6 and get the two-bedroom suite. It beats getting a regular hotel room (or rooms) by a mile. When going thru Baton Rouge, give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

We stayed here for the Bayou Country Fest. I made the reservation several months in advance. For some reason, the hotel decided a week before my stay that it was a special event stay and required full payment up front. So not only were they jacking the room rate up, they wanted all their money. I guess I could see that except why didn't they decide that when I made the reservation? Also since it was guaranteed with my credit card, why not leave it at that? This property is in severe need of an overhaul!!! Everything looks worn out. Our bathroom had the dirtiest toilet I have ever seen!!! Nice dark ring around the water line so you could tell it had not been cleaned in forever. Rooms are not cleaned every day because it is extended stay. I can see that policy if you are on an extended stay but if you are not??? They were going to clean the room our last day but when they knocked on the door at 9AM, we were not ready to leave yet since we got in at 1AM for the concert.
It is convenient to everything there is to do which is about the only plus. It made me decide that I will not be staying at any TownePlace Suites again....too crappy!

We stayed for 1 night on our way back from Destin, FL. The hotel is older and in need of a major update. The hall smells like Lysol, dirty carpet, very dated. The hotel is in a pretty good location, so that is good. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit, which was relatively spacious. Full kitchen, separate living area. Marriott needs to out some money in this place.

When my wife and I chose to travel to the Baton Rouge area to celebrate our anniversary, we had a number of things to consider when we were looking for a place to stay. We wanted somewhere that was comfortable, safe, and in close proximity to things to do. I have to say, even though TownePlace Suites is tucked away across from the hospital, this is a truly great place to stay. After driving for 3 hours to get to Baton Rouge, the front desk was very courteous and allowed us to check in a little early. This was great because it allowed us to get settled in and allowed me to rest up and get changed for the extensive shopping trip my wife had in store for us at the nearby Mall of Louisiana.

We reserved a one-bedroom suite and that was plenty spacious for us. Two nice sized tv's, a full kitchen, desk area, and comfortable bathroom. The room (and the property for that matter) has a very clean feel. The staff was nice and everyone spoke to you as you encountered them in the hallways. I honestly think that for this level of property, this is about as good as it gets. Later that evening we dined at L'auberge (which is a great experience that I will have to review separately), so the leftover food from the night served as our breakfast and we didn't get a chance to experience the on site breakfast. One other perk that didn't go unnoticed by either of us was the 12 o'clock checkout. It is a huge relief to have until 12 to rest after being out most of the night. This is a good choice for most anyone. The sofa bed in the living area seems like it can accommodate most young children, so I would strongly recommend this hotel for families. As for the two of us, we enjoyed our stay at this property and would seriously consider staying here in the future.

We stay here on a regular basis, and on a few occasions, stayed here for over 30 days. We love the premises, the landscaping, and the location...not on a main road, but just down the block from the mall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very basic, so we don't use it because we have a kitchen, but it is a great place to grab a cup of coffee. They have an indoor swimming pool, but it seems to be a bit over chlorinated. We enjoy the area just outside of the pool, where it is "walled" off. It's nice to have beverages and snacks when the weather is nice. This place is perfect for a long stay.

We stayed in Room 207 - Queen Bed suite with a mini kitchenette and a sofa bed. The room was a bit small once the sofa bed was opened but definitely worth the rate we received through Priceline. It was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly at check in and check out. The continental breakfast was pretty good, typical continental with bagels, grits, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, etc. The pool was very clean, but the temperature was a bit cold for an indoor pool. I would definitely stay there again especially for the nightly rate we received. This hotel is located near the hospital but is also by itself - Kind of secluded.. Very quite area.

This inn is about a mile off I-10 down Summa Ave. across from the Baton rouge Hospital. I would think that its location may be more for the families of patients at the Hospital than for tourists. It would work well for people in B. R. on business for a few days. It is a good sized unit with a full kitchen, full size refrigerator, microwave , cooktop & dishwasher. It is has a comfortable bed ,a good work station for computer work, & a flat screen TV. Internet is free. I had a little trouble connecting, but once connected it worked fine. I didn't rate it excellent because it provides only a continental breakfast where most of the other inns provide a hot breakfast & I didn't get a free copy of USA Today. For me it is the small things that separate a great stay from an OK stay. However the lady at check-in was very helpful and a great personality.
