We have visited the lovely Commonwealth of Kentucky many times over the past 20 years. We visit every other year when the University of Georgia plays the University of Kentucky on a home-and-home schedule. For the last 5 trips we have enjoyed the hospitality of Sharon Amberg at the historic Rose Hill Inn in Versailles, Ky. Sharon has become a family member for us as well as our favorite innkeeper. She is unmatched in her ability to make you feel as if you are welcome in her home, as well as being a wonderful chef for our unique breakfasts. We would not dream of staying at any other B&B in the area, and we have tried a few in the past! Our parents have stayed with her during a riverboat cruise, and keep asking us when they can join us on a return trip! Sharon is truly an ultimate hostess, and the addition of Emeil as "skipper" only adds to the ambiance! Rose Hill is truly an experience you don't want to miss in Kentucky!

My husband and I were one of six couples that had the pleasure of staying at the Rose Hill Inn bed and breakfast for a long weekend on February 18 and 19. We had never stayed at a B&B before and did not know what to expect. Well, we were blown away by the lovely accommodations and the wonderful Southern hospitality we were shown at the Rose Hill Inn!

We had the pleasure of staying in Miss Lucie's room and it featured a lovely four-poster bed and a bathroom so wonderful we never wanted to leave! Throughout the weekend, everyone in our group continued to comment on the loveliness of the accommodations and how we could not believe how they had thought of every little detail to make things perfect! Our group of 12 can be quite boisterous, and we kept apologizing, but the Innkeepers, Sharon and Emiel, were very gracious and said they loved to have the house filled with our laughter. It was wonderful that they were so accommodating!

The last item I must mention is the tantalizing breakfasts we were served each morning. Oh my goodness, Sharon really knows how to cook! On Sunday morning we were served a feast of fresh fruit, banana stuffed French toast, ham, and chili relleno eggs. Everything was delicious! The second morning we dined on fresh fruit, homemade muffins, bacon, and a wonderful egg and spinach casserole served in a heart shaped dish! Did I mention the attention to every detail?! There were also freshly baked goodies in our room each day so the house was always filled with delicious aromas!

In conclusion, I cannot give high enough praises for the Rose Hill Inn bed and breakfast! The historic home and the rooms are beautiful and well preserved with gorgeous antiques. The Innkeepers make you feel so welcome, like you are visiting with relatives. I would HIGHLY recommend the Rose Hill Inn as your first choice for a bed and breakfast if you are visiting the Lexington area. In fact, we were so impressed that our group has already booked President's Day weekend again in 2007!

Our organization loves putting up our guests at the Rose Hill Inn. Sharon and Emiel are lovely hosts who make our guests feel so welcome and pampered. From the outstanding breakfasts to the well-appointed and beautiful rooms we could not ask for more. We have been especially impressed by the way the hosts so graciously accomodate special requests. Just a note to say how much I enjoyed my stay at Rose Hill. A lovely inn, good food, and such pleasant surroundings! I have studied women's literature from the mid-late 1800s and felt as if I had gone back in time! I think Stowe or Alcott would feel right at home. I found a copy of Anne of Green Gables on the night stand and found myself rereading an old friend.

I have shared the lovely Inn with friends who sometimes travel to Versailles. A real find! Worth the trip.
