My husband and I have visited the 1823 Historic Rose Hill Inn eight times over the last five years. Without exception, we have had wonderful visits. It seems each time we have another new breakfast, from banana stuffed French toast to spinach egg puff, apple pannekoeken, eggs extravaganza, and a Mexican egg dish they call huevos caballeros. We often bring our dogs, and it is wonderful to find such a beautiful place that also accepts dogs. There is never a hint of dogs in the immaculate rooms, but with the acreage they have it is a great place to let them exercise.
They were selected as Kentucky’s Best B&B this year by polling the readers of Kentucky Monthly Magazine and I can definitely see why. The rooms are distinctively different from each other, and they seem to have every amenity you could want. We have stayed in most of them! Emiel and Sharon are friendly to their guests, but allow them privacy too. It is a comfortable place to be for couples, families and pets. If we bring our children we stay in the Cottage or Auntie’s Attic, as it sleeps four. The kids love to pet the animals, Andy, their golden, and the goat and donkey.
Kentucky is a great place to visit. The horse farms are amazing, and Keeneland is a race track that reminds you of England. Shaker Village is nearby and the Kentucky Horse Park has a lot of horse-related information and even horseback riding, which our children loved. There are several bourbon distilleries in the area and also a few wineries, so there is a lot to see and do within just a few miles.
I know you’ll love Rose Hill Inn as we do and we can’t wait to go back again. I wish it was closer to my home!
