“Go for the "experience"....can't recommend food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

We went for the recent "Castlevania" and it was an awesome experience for a Halloween party! The Castle is small, 2 floors and you feel more like you are in someone's home. The turret room was outstanding, which we got as a free upgrade, but the jet tub didn't work and coffee pot dirty. Beds were great but staff is scarce but attentive when you can find them. Due to our event, the restaurant was closed. The appetizers served at the event were not good...For $40 a person and a cash bar, we expected more. Continental breakfast was barely edible but the dining room is gorgeous! If they can upgrade food and some minor attention to details, this is a gold mine! Looking forward to going at least once in warm weather and enjoy pool, tennis courts and bocce. Will probably eat elsewhere, tho!

Room Tip: The turret rooms have a separate sitting room...larger walk-in closet than the grand room. But you...

We were the only 3 couples in the resort and enjoyed it very much. The staff were all very nice and the rooms were large and comfortable. Since we were the only ones present, we were upgraded to corner rooms that were very nice. The recreational area at night was a fun place to unwind also. Also a great location very close to the Keeneland race track and many restaurants. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Get a corner room.

Went here on our anniversary , very nice, meal was great, but you don't have to include it in your stay. They will upgrade room, if available . Romantic , lots of things to do. Probably the best room we have stayed in, very friendly, helpful, relaxing

Pretty place n horse country do not waste your money there. The food was really bad the service matched. I have stayed at several bed and breakfast this one was the most expensive but the worst.I have had better breakfast at the Holiday Inn!!! I was there for my daughter's birthday the amenities that say they are not available what disappoint and very misleading. The customer service needs training class or two. I should offer my services at least half off.

My girlfriend and I stayed there and loved it, the service is great and the amenities are very nice. We loved the grounds and gardens. The dinning was very special and they do an excellent job and making your evening romantic. I would highly recommend staying there and plan on going back again. Touring Lexington is really nice as well; I grew up in Lexington but have forgotten how beautiful the city really is. Make sure to visit Keeneland while you are there but do not spend all of your money there. Enjoy your visit to this top quality Castle.

Where to begin. We stayed at the Castle Post in Lexington and left sick as dogs from the mold and mildew everywhere. The owner fixed up the interior of the old burned castle and made it pretty, but was cheap and didn't seal the roof making it slowly get wet behind the walls. What you can't see, you can smell; especially in the elevator. The grounds inside the castle walls is unmaintained and an eye sore; with no flare for upkeep. When we checked in, no one was there to greet us, no drink was offered as should be. There was no love at all. There was no mystery of the castle mystique. They completed don't know what they've got or obviously the money to make it all work. Outside the castle walls, it's grotesque and a disaster area with not one dime spent to make it alluring. DO NOT GO. They don't care about you and you will get sick. Plus the rooms with the dripping ceilings and obvious mold growing can be smelled everywhere. What a terrible shame to ruin what had become a mysterious Kentucky landmark. Somebody please buy this heap from this short tax attorney and show him and the state what is possible cause he obviously doesn't care and has no clue.

Room Tip: The only good room here is in another hotel across town. Sorry.

My husband surprised me for our anniversary with a stay at the castle. It was amazing!! The place is absolutely beautiful. There were two other couples staying at the castle that night and we barely saw them. When you walk in, your room keys are just sitting on a table in the front, no one is there to greet you. You go up to your room and make yourself comfortable. The castle is yours to roam! We went around and took pictures of the whole place, looked around. Later in the night we went and watched TV in the billiard room on the big screen and theatre seating. Then we played a game of pool. It took us forever to find the pool cues, they are under the bench in that room. You feel like the castle is your own private home. We only saw the manager when we first got there and then the next morning. We didn't mind it at all. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Cons-- it would be nice to receive a paper or something upon check-in with information, how to get what you need, where stuff is because our key didn't work at first and thankfully we hunted someone down and got in. The whirlpool did not work in the tub and the hot tub on the top of the castle was not working.
