“Someone in the kitchen here can COOK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

Ate here mid week with four others. Service was good but busy at lunch. Food was super good. Not for folks on a low cal diet but if ou like Southern fired chicken and all the grits etc. it was excellent. Homemade salad dressings were great on salads. prices were from 12 to 15 dollars for lunch. Very cute historic building.

“Sunday Crunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

My spouse and I went Science Hill for brunch on Sunday. Service is from 11 AM to 2 PM. Reservations would be a good idea, especially later in the service.
The brunch was an excellent assortment of quality Kentucky dinner items, since the midday meal was the largest meal of the day. There were several high points. The first was the country ham served cold and thinly sliced, slightly salty and sweet. The next were an excellent assortment of vegetables, especially the kale, lima beans and the beets. The beets were a perfect balance of sweet with a bite on vinegar. The real hit was the fried chicken with a perfectly crisp skin. We finished with dessert. I had strawberries with cinnamon cream and my wife had blueberry cobbler with ice cream. The topping of the cobbler was crisp and tasty.

“One of Best Sunday Brunches Near Louisville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Science Hill Inn's dining room has a great old time down-south Sunday country brunch in a 1830s building with an antique shop and patio gardens. It is a scenic 25 mile drive south-west of Louisville Kentucky.

For starters, their "make it your self salad" with lots of fresh locally grown ingredients has numerous home made dressings, but the pick of the litter is their great blue cheese dressing. Many people really pig out on this.

They have a wide variety of old style cold salads and lots of locally grown hot vegetables. Their great southern fried chicken, meat balls and bar-B-Q are something else. But the best item is great country ham, I am a country ham foodie and this is the best that I can recall having in Kentucky in years. For years they have gotten their well aged hams from a farmer down state. It was so good that I tried to buy some to take home but they would sell me any as they did not want to run out as it is the reason that so many local country people, after church, eat there regularly.

Their biscuits and corn breed fritters are meals unto themselves. They have great fresh berry cobbler and/or bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert.

We will be eating Sunday brunch here regularly in the future now that we discovered this place.

“Weekday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Very unique setting...with feel of old southern charm! Felt much like going back in time. We had a reservation & there was no wait time for seating. Waitress was extremely attentive & nice. Coke was a little flat due to the fact it was kept in pitcher on ice, but not horrible. Glasses were kept filled promptly. We had a groupon, which helped, but pricing for lunch was a little pricey. Food was very good, not spectacular as I had expected! Had the hot brown &, as I said, it was good, I am Very pickey about my hot brown & it was not best that I have had, but better than most. The sauce was actually a sauce, not just an overpowering melted cheese, like most that you get. Had to wait for awhile for our food, but that's to be expected when things are fixed fresh. It was not extremely long.

“Always a pleasant lunch at Science Hill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

I've visited Science Hill several times and have never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and your water or coffee never goes empty. They start by bringing out warm bread and corn muffins to the table which are so good with the butter you have to try and not fill up on those. On my last visit I had the shrimp and grits. They were marvelous. The hot brown and the fried chicken are excellent as well. Save room for dessert if you can. Nice little southern restaurant.
