“Just plain bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

These types of properties are becoming more owned by India Nationals. Nothing against these folks, but properties are being ran down. This one did not have any working entrance doors that took the room key. You could exit, but had to enter through the main lobby. Rooms are old and in fact the owners I believe are living in one room, b/c there is one ground floor room that has a blanket as the window curtain. The other guy I was traveling with did not have a curtain in his room at all.

Getting worried that HI Express is letting hotels such as this go into the ground. I will not stay there again and suggest you do not either........

I had issues with the Ramada and moved to the Holiday inn Express. The entire atmosphere was much better at this hotel: the lobby was clean, the room was clean and did not smell bad, the room was quiet and the breakfast area was clean and organized. I recommend this HIExpress when staying in Shelbyville.

...Surprised that the Holiday Inn allows the name to be placed on this hotel!
I expect the next time I drive by to see someone else is the owner/manager.
I could go into all the issues but will not. It is not up to Holiday Inn standards. It is worn out.
If you are there for a night, okay, but keep your expectations low.
The staff tries hard but are running against the wind.

Room Tip: Keep driving and go into Louisville.

Solid place to spend the night on the road- maybe a few dollars more than many other choices, but very friendly staff, clean, safe, and comfortable. Hot breakfast was pretty good too.

My wife & I stayed one night on a trip back home. It was a Sunday. Be forwarned, restaurants do not serve booze on Sundays in this town. We selected it since it was close to the highway. The hotel was in good shape. There is an exercise room on the first floor. We stayed in a first floor room. It was a standard two-bed room with relatively high ceilings. The TV was not flat screen but it had a decent cable package. It had a refrigerator in the room. The beds were comfortable with four pillows on each one. The pillows were labeled either soft or firm. The room & bathroom were clean. The wifi internet did not work in the room. I had to go out into the lobby and got good reception out there. The breakfast was outstanding! In addition to coffee, juice and milk, they had cold cereal, scrambled eggs, pancakes, warm cinnamon buns and bacon! The pancakes were made in an ingenious machine I had never seen before. It was a conveyor belt contraption that spit out two pancakes in a minute. I paid $95 for a non-smoking room with two queen beds. I would stay here again.

Typical Holiday Inn hotel.. great service, nice room. Breakfast daily. the pool is outdoors and gets the afternoon sun, so great for after-work tanning!

I stayed here years ago and it was nice, but this time found it to be a dump. The TV didn't work. The whole place smelled of fresh paint (but none was evident) and cigarette smoke.

It's run-down, out-dated and needs refurbishment.

We will not stay here again.
