“A Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

I had 52 Norwegians along touring the country and folk music centers of the central United States. We were fortunately referred to the National Heritage Inn and Suites as a good location for enjoying the Renfro Valley area. It's not always easy checking-in a whole bus load of travelers upon arrival at a H/Motel, but thanks to the staff of National Heritage, we were welcomed as if we were family and in our rooms in short order. The rooms were clean and as the name implies, were decorated as one would expect in an early American setting. Everyone felt at home, especially if one had a room overlooking the large field on the back-side where preparations for a week-end Fair had been started. It's just a short walk to Renfro Valley's entertainment including the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, a great Boarding house dinner followed by a wonderful show. The morning breakfast was very good consisting of warm and cold dishes in a dining room that could seat just about all the guests. I will certainly bring future groups to the National Heritage Inn and Suites.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the field are very good.

It's a very nice motel with wifi. It doesn't have a refrigerator or microwave (which I knew ahead of time) which would have been nice with traveling & I was headed to a family reunion. The location worked out perfect for me since I wanted to check out a cemetery and a town in the area. The room doors make a lot of noise when people leave their rooms. Some people might think the breakfast is good but I wasn't impressed with flat frozen eggs heated in the microwave etc. Also since they didn't have their own website to reserve the room -- the option that popped up was for booking.com. When I got to the motel I asked about the senior discount since there wasn't an option on the website. I was told you have to "call" the motel to make a reservation to receive the discount but that she would give it to me. Nowadays every motel should have a website with the discounts they offer. If you are into country western - there is the museum & shops very close to the motel. I found the pillows to be not up to my standards - pretty hard.

Thank you for your review.

I am so sorry you had trouble finding the website. It is the name of the hotel and then .com
TripAdvisor does not allow us to post url or website links.

The room was in need of an update. The parking area is small and there are signs all over about the fine you will pay if you smoke or sneak a pet into the room. There is also a towel count listed so you know what should be in your room when you leave. We went down to breakfast at 9:10 (breakfast ended at 9:30). The attendent came to our table and said they would begin putting the food away at 9:30, however they were doing it the whole time. The minute a glass was empty, they snatched it up....no refill on juice....There was also signs - do not fill the plate and take it back to the room. It is within walking distance to Renfro Valley...I suggest driving. Not worth the price.

Thank you for your review.
I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We strive to make everyone feel like a valued guest.
Signage became necessary regarding "no smoking rooms and pets" due to guests smoking in non-smoking rooms and/or bringing pets into rooms. We are not a pet friendly hotel and had to take extra steps to make guests aware of our policies.
I hope you will give us another try.

Renfro Valley is noted for it's Down Home atmosphere, and this hotel is no exception. Although we have stayed there many times over the years, it never changes. The clean rooms, a great breakfast, convenient to the Interstate and in walking distance to Renfro Valley. More importantly it is the friendly folks that welcome you, and make everyone a part of their family.

Room Tip: If available get room on backside away from parking lot and street.

Not knowing the area at all we stopped here after 8:00 pm for a room and a recommendation for dinner. Check-in was speedy and the hotel clerk called local restaurants to verify their hours of operation in order that we didn't spend extra time in unnecessary travel time finding a place to eat. The hotel itself was very clean & comfortable and the staff was hospitable!

Cathy, Stacy and Kim go out of their way to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one. Not only that, they are very knowledgeable about local restaurants and attractions which is very helpful when you're a visitor to Renfro Valley. Hotel is conveniently located off I-75. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is good and Dining Room is spotless. If you're visiting or just passing through this beautiful area, I can recommend this property. You won't be disappointed.
