“Average food at best. "cheesy upcharges" We won't be back”
We arrived on time for our 7:00pm reservation on a Saturday night. No one in the bar with less than half of their tables occupied. Took over 20 minutes to get beverage service. Rachel, the server, was pleasant and friendly and the best part of the evening. Beverages, as well as our salads and entrees were all slow to be served. My wife ordered a steak and I ordered the Lasagna. When the entrees arrived, I was presented with a tepid plate of Spaghetti with Meatballs. I agreed to accept that order in place of my original with the offer of the "House" offering to send us complimentary "Transparent pie" for dessert. The Spaghetti was flavorless with a mundane canned or bagged sauce. I had to request some granulated garlic, some diced onions and lemon wedges to dress it up and give it a little flavor. Beverage service remained slow throughout the dinner and we had to ask and wait for additional drinks/water.
At the end of the evening, we requested that they package our "pie" to go and then found out that they were ending us with these two little pre-made "tarts" much like one would find in a gas station convenience store end cap. (later that night, we found them to be flavorless). Upon review of the check, I inquired what the $3.00 charge for the "Sm margarita" was and was told that was the "Upcharge" that was being assessed for me requesting Thousand island dressing on the side, in place of the Std. Vinagarette that came with the complimentary house salad, which was automatically served with the Spaghetti/meatballs. When I questioned the upcharge and voiced my dissatisfaction, not only with the price, but also with NOT being told in advance of the upcharge, and in light of the fact that the dresing portion I rec'd was approx. 1 ounce, less than half of a 2 oz. PC (portion control) cup for $3.00 PLUS they were charging my wife for HER Pie tartlet that she didn't even order It was supposed to be gratuitous, I was told that there was nothing could be done about it...that several other customers had complained in the past over the same issue and that Rachel, the server, said she agreed one-hundered percent and that it was " a rip off". In spite of all, we tipped generously and told our waitress that if she or the house were interested, if they weren't willing to make the proper adjustments to the bill, we would never be back. No offer was made nor any willingness shown in an attempt to preserve our future patronage. We won't be back. Save your money. There are other decent places to eat in Maysville that treat you better, appreciate your business and serve much better food. Try Pasquales or DeSha's.
