Tucked in a very unlikely location between Cabela's and Costco is a wonderful Kentucky gem! While we have eaten some delicious meals in Louisville during our annual visit, Corbett's provided a unique and totally delightful experience that was one-of-a-kind. My dad, husband and I were one of the early diners on an ordinary Tuesday night in September. At the recommendation of our waitress, Jennifer, we opted for the extended fixed menu prepared at the 'whim' of the chef and thoughtfully paired with complimentary wine selections. Jennifer was very attentive to us and gave us lots of helpful information as we navigated the menu. Our option did not disappoint and we thoroughly enjoyed each and every course that was provided. As with any meal, there were wine selections that we liked more than others. But as I told Jennifer, they are all in 'shades' of greatness. Even the ones we didn't like were still very good! We had 8 food courses (think tapas) and each provided a culinary adventure. First and second courses included rock shrimp with grits and a spicy marinara (my dad's favorite), arugula salad with mustard vinagrette, fancy chilled potato soup and gnocchi. Main courses included two preparations of quail, swordfish (perfectly cooked to be tender and moist), and prime filet. The dessert included a cheesecake with cherries and mixed fruit. Wine pairings ranged from proseco to port. Each was purposefully selected to compliment the food and a fun opportunity to try a few things we would not usually try. We are blessed to be able to enjoy wonderful meals like this from time to time and this one will remain at the top of our list. We are still talking about it today and basking in the afterglow of a wonderful dinner experience at Corbett's. Please take the opportunity to make memories of your own next time you are in louisville!
