My husband and I have stayed at Woodhaven four times. Each time, we stayed in a different room. In all of the rooms, the beds were comfortable, had clean linens, and great pillows. There were different soaps in each room - from big cakes of French milled to wonderfully smelling liquid hand soaps. We found the innkeeper to be hospitable and helpful. She has a small dog (which we liked) that lives in the main house and a cat that lives outside. Both animals were friendly but not loud or intrusive. There were complementary snacks (candies, cookies, and once there was Gigi's Cupcakes) and drinks (water and soda) available at all hours in the downstairs hall. There was a self-heating tea pot and an assortment of teas and some bagged snacks (complementary) in each room too. Breakfast was always yummy.
There is small park nearby that is within walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants and downtown Louisville and shopping within a short drive.
The rooms we've experienced:
The Masters Suite - in the main house on the second floor. A very spacious room filled with antiques. A good sized bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom (toilet and shower in their own room and sink in another). It's very sunny in the morning even with the windows shuttered. There is queen sized bed, a mini frig, and a non-working fireplace (there were candles in it though). The TV is rather small - not a flat screen. There is a DVD player and plenty of DVDs in the house to borrow.
The Garden Suite (my favorite) - decorated in French country style. There were two rooms plus the bathroom. The bathroom had a shower, toilet, and sink. In the next room (a large sitting area) was small tea table and chairs, armoire, dresser, and a large bathtub (like a claw-foot tub without the legs). It sounds odd that the tub should be outside of the bathroom but it worked out just fine. The bed and TV are in the next room. While my husband enjoyed a ballgame, I enjoyed a long soak (fyi - don't put too much bubble bath in while using the whirlpool setting or you'll get an incredible tower of bubbles).
The Cupola Room - in the carriage house that is separate from the main house. A cozy room upstairs with a small sitting area, small bedroom, and good-sized bathroom. The bathroom has a big garden tub with a hand-held sprayer (no separate shower). This room is decorated in hunting colors.
Rose Cottage - this little cottage is also separate from the main house. It is open and airy - really one large two-story room with a staircase in the middle leading up to a small sitting area. King sized bed and working fireplace and flat screen TV. It is pricey but we were there for a special occasion and didn't mind. Afternoon tea (this was an additional charge) was waiting for us when we arrived. It was lovely and romantic.
