We were originally planning to travel with our yellow lab, and were so pleased to find a wonderful B&B that welcomed dogs, no matter what size! At the last minute, our dog decided to stay at home with friends, and Nancy accommodated us very nicely when we switched to a "non-dog" room. From the minute we reserved our room, to our departure a few days later, Nancy and her staff were very attentive. The building is lovely and is conveniently located near the downtown area. Highly recommended.

Aleksander House is a great bed and breakfast in a quiet neighbourhood about 1.5miles from Fourth Street Live area. The b&b is wonderfully maintained and very clean. We had 'Roxannes' room and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in since starting our drive through USA two weeks ago. The innkeeper, Nancy was a pleasure to deal with; as was Audrey who made a lovely breakfast for us.
The room has an airconditioner and ceiling fan which kept the room very comfortable. There was a fridge (with drinks) in a large cupboard area and a tv with cable. The bathroom was small but clean and the shower worked well. There is wifi that works well in the downstairs lounge and dining area.
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend Aleksanders House to people wanting great value accommodation in Louisville.
Oh, on our walk back from downtown in the evening we saw fire flies. A great but strange sight for us as we don't have them in Australia.

We stayed for the weekend and had a lovely time. The house is magnificent, with tall ceilings and gorgeous woodwork. Our room was beautifully decorated, had all the modern amenities, and a very nice private bath with shower. Best of all was our host's willingness to serve vegan breakfasts. On top of that, my wife is a gluten-free vegan, so that took even more special skill. The location is in Old Louisville, which has fascinating architecture and history, and is only blocks from downtown. I know I'll be staying at the Aleksander House the next time I'm in Louisville.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Aleksander House for the first time and it was more than I had hoped for. The interior was beautiful with decorations and tall ceilings. We stayed in a spacious room with a very comfortable bed, I slept great! Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and I loved being able to sit down and get to know Nancy more as well as other guests staying there. (much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel and grabbing breakfast to go back up to your room.) I certainly recommend the Aleksander House!

We have stayed at the Aleksander House many times. We attended our 8th Kentucky Derby this year and again stayed with Nancy as we have for every other one. We always bring a couple or multiple couples with us and everyone enjoys the 3 day stay. Obviously we truly enjoy ourselves at the Aleksander House. Derby Weekend in Louisville would not be the same without Nancy. She always takes time in her busy schedule to have little chats and shows an interest in her guests making sure they are having a good experience. The rooms are charming, interesting, very clean, and have comfortable beds. The food is excellent with something different everyday. I even get new ideas for cooking at home. Nancy makes sure the food is to everyones liking and will accommodate for any food restrictions. The location is great. We are able to walk to wonderful restaurants. We hope to return before the years end.

Stayed here last weekend. Lovely old home. Nancy was welcoming and accommodating. She went out of her way to make me a delicious vegan breakfast! Thanks, Nancy! Location was very convenient to the airport, major highways Churchill Downs and downtown Louisville.

As a woman who travels alone on business trips, I often prefer to stay in a bed and breakfast.
I stayed at Aleksander house a couple weeks ago, and found the experience quite pleasant. I found the place a charming mix and Victorian and contemporary furnishings and the bedroom was a very nice size. I noticed another reviewer complained about the neighborhood. Coming from a big city, I had no problem with the neighborhood which is in an older section of Louisville. And didn't fear walking to the great little French bakery on the corner. There are many other B & B's in this area.

The location is very convenient, close to the airport, convention center and restaurants. I will be staying there again, next time I have to travel to Louisville.
