Not your run-of-the-mill hotel the 21c Museum Hotel, smack dab in the heart of Louisville, made me feel refreshed and cultured; a fine feat!
The decor of the hotel lobby is a, well, you guessed it, museum. Different mediums and types, the art is everywhere. Even the elevator is a work of art (although isn't it time to become a little more Earth friendly and replace those incandescents with LED?). The staff are exceptional. I was offered water upon arrival while checking in. They could answer any question and got me in for a second night on short notice. The housekeeping staff kept me stocked with Nespresso cartridges as I am AN AVID coffee drinker.
Our room was light and airy. A composition of a brick wall accented with organic furniture and a lovely 14 ft or so ceiling; industrial chic. I want to say the experience felt wispy yet solid...is that ok? The in room coffee (love you guys) was a Nespresso machine. Every detail was original and surprising. Room service was timely, delicious, and economical. The valets/doorpersons were quite happy to open the door for us smokers many times a day.
The only downer was parking but had I used the $25 valet service, this would not had been an issue. I parked at the garage 1 block away which, for a downtown parking garage, was amazingly affordable at $7/night. I guess the whole thing was a downer because of the weather. It is also a slightly more expensive hotel but considering the service and accommodations, I felt it was well worth it.
