We just returned from the Embassy Suites in Louisville - three kids (8,7,4) and my wife and I. We stayed two nights and found it to be worth every penny. We were in kid/entertainment mode for this trip but as an occasional business traveler the property is just as appealing - clean, relatively new, helpful staff, but not overly so. If I had to stretch and find a negative it may be location, and it's a stretch to claim that's even a negative. Downtown Louisville is really not that far from this property and major highways are only a few minutes away in a couple of directions.
Breakfast in the morning is the best 'free' breakfast I've encountered at any hotel I've visited whether traveling for entertainment or business. Happy hour in the evenings is a casual with chips and salsa type snacks and kid friendly. They weren't stingy about only one drink - both my wife and I had a couple including mixed drinks for her. Don't miss either breakfast or happy hour.
The hotel's design is inward facing. That is, all of the rooms open into an atrium-like center which is full of lots of natural light. It's a nice switch from long, relatively dark hallways in most hotels. Since the restaurant is on the ground floor, you're greated with the smell of breakfast when you open your room door in the morning. That bacon-coffee-breakfast smell wafting up to the fourth floor was kind of cool.
The pool is relatively large, actually, with a hot tub nearby. They have towels laying out resort-style that you can take back to your room. I think we got in the pool three different times in the two days we were there.
I used the fitness center twice. It's surprisingly good. Definitely roomy. Instead of the typical single bike and treadmill they had several (more than two) treadmills and two elipticals with a good set of newer dumbbells. All of the equipment was relatively new Precor stuff.
If I'm in the Louisville area again, staying here again is a no-brainer.
