What a superb Embassy suites. It is evident that this location is relatively new and well cared for. (Unlike some Embassy suites that are showing their age and somewhat rundown.)
I was in Louisville for 11 nights on business and stayed at this location. The hotel is convenient to the airport, though if you do not have a rental car, the cost of the trip may run up to the range of $40.
Upon entering the hotel, you are greeted by the friendly staff. They are there to help, but not overbearing in their presence. The ladies that work the front desk during the day are very nice to work with.
The atrium is nice and does not seem to have too much noise roaming into the rooms. All rooms have a window into the Atrium (at the room door) and one to the outside of the building. I was on the 4th floor.
The rooms are nice and spacious - really one bedroom apartment style. Bathroom is off the main living room, bedroom has a door to close it off as well as a closet and TV. The living room has a Queen sleeper sofa, TV, work desk, micro, fridge, and wet bar. Rooms have hard wired internet access in the living room, as well as Wireless. (I did hear that some rooms did not get the wireless signal very well.)
A couple of times I was rather tired and just decided to order in room service. The service was fast, prompt, and the food was pretty good. It is limited to appetizers, salads, sandwiches, a few entrees, and desserts. The same food can be had in the dining room.
The full cooked to order breakfast (order at the breakfast counter) is very good and well done. Most of the time there is not much of a wait, especially weekdays. I slept in Sunday morning, but from the number of kids and people eating in all places of the lobby around 9am, I am guessing there were some lines. I waited to eat breakfast till about 10:15am. (goes till 10:30) Honestly, I was glad to see all the families leave.
The hotel also has an evening reception with open bar for two hours or so and some appetizers. They had a nice mix of a meat, cheese, chips, crackers, and veggies week nights. The appetizers went down hill on Fri / Sat night to chips and such. Aldo the bar tender is great and always willing to help you out.
There is an indoor pool, hot tub, and an outdoor sunning area. The pool always seemed nice. They have an nice but small workout area that could get difficult to use if a few people were trying to use it. (1 bike, 1 elliptical, 2 treadmills, and free weights.) Since the weather was beautiful, I got out and ran outside. There is a nice winding sidewalk that goes around the "big" block that encompasses the hotel. The loop is 1.2 miles for each circuit with some small hills. There is also a nice trail across the street behind Applebee's. Elevators can be a bit slow, but at least you can look on the atrium as you are moving slowly. <G>
For food, there are not a lot of options in walking distance, so I recommend a car. In walking distance is: Applebee's, McDonalds, McAllister's Deli, and one other that never seemed to have anyone there, so I don't even know if they were open. The hotel is situated on an office complex with a nice little lake and kind of a park like setting. They have a shuttle that will take you to other restaurants nearby if you need. There are some good choices nearby. There is also a bar in walking distance that shows most of the games, a neat little place.... "R Place."
Overall, what a great stay. I can be rather picky given the amount of traveling I do, and find that there is nothing but greatness at this hotel.
