“Great staff and well kept property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Stayed the weekend of the Kentucky Derby and although the hotel was full the staff was amazing. The manager was great. Continental breakfast was good and rooms were clean. The hotel is in a great location. It took about 15 mins to get to Churchill Downs and about 30 minutes to get to the Casino.

Staff was really friendly, esp the gals in the dining area! Room was clean, and while the hotel is on the old side, the rooms were up to date. I do wish that the pool had longer hours but we understand that they per KY law they need an attendant. As always the breakfast, kick backs and soda and popcorn were much appreciated!

Room Tip: we loved that our suit's bedroom had no windows! Nice and dark!

We stayed over spring break the first full week of April. The staff was amazing. The free breakfast went until 10AM on weekends and 9:30 on weekdays with kickback food and drinks again at 5:30. Walking distance to Jimmy Johns, Olive Garden and Starbucks. Only a few minutes from the Oxmoor mall and a lot of shops around the hotel as well. Right off the freeway. We loved our stay and would go back again.

We requested a room away from the atrium for noise control and were in 315 which was a two bedroom suite.

Affordable and offers tons of extras. Free parking, wifi, popcorn/pop everyday from 3-10, continental breakfast, and evening kickback at 530 with lots of food. Dining times can get busy but the staff went above and beyond to make sure all guests were served and happy. We appreciated how helpful and friendly all of the staff was, even when dealing with issues (which we observed). Pool was indoor/outdoor and both sides were taken advantage of, pool attendant on duty all 3 times we used it. We have stayed at a Drury before and will again.

Staff was very nice - I saw them go way out of their way for some other guests. Nightly kickback is always nice - certainly gets busy, though right at 5:30. They do open up their conference room for extra seating. Pool was half indoors/half out. Temps got decently warm on our stay, so it was fine. The best advantage this hotel offers is the little things and nice service.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We did end up having a good stay but it was almost a disaster. We stayed while driving on a trip from Minnesota to Florida. It was busy when we checked in as it was during their evening kickback. We were happy to get up to our room as we had been driving all day but were quickly overcome with an awful perfume like smell in the room that actually made our eyes burn. We think it was some type of cleaner used to clean this (non-smoking) room that had been smoked in. It was overpowering. We went back down to the front desk to inform them that this room was not acceptable to sleep in, only to be told they were booked and had nothing else available. She actually offered to spray Febreeze in the room which we responded that the room most definitely did NOT need more chemicals sprayed in it!

We were standing there trying to decide if we were going to try and find another hotel when they did say they just had a cancellation and could move us to a new room. We were skeptical but the new room smelle finel and we ended up having a lovely stay. They really need to air out that room (can't remember the number but was on the 4th floor) and it should be taken out of service.

I always try to stay at a Drury Hotel when I travel. I used to stay at the Marriotts, Hiltons and some other higher end chains but after staying in these hotels, I'm hooked. This one in Louisville was very nice. The front desk staff was cheerful and very accomodating. The rooms are nice and always clean. The only thing I don't care for is that to me the beds are too soft. I like a very firm bed almost on the verge of rock stiffness so others may find it just right. Breakfast is always good and the Kickstart meals in evenings are too. If I make it to the hotel during the evening I will eat there. Why pay for a meal when this one is just as good!

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice.
