“Great location”

A great location within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions. Measured up to a 3.5 star hotel but nothing outstanding. We did book on priceline last minute and got a great deal and ended up with a suite.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel, which was recommended for a convention I was in town for.

The hotel has both ups and downs. Upon arrival the valet and bellboy were great! Check in was fast and easy, and our gracious front desk clerk even upgraded our room since there would be 3 of us in there, thanks again! The room was great, lots of space (especially in the bathroom!) but I do agree with another post stating there needs to be somewhere in shower to put toiletries, there were 3 women sharing the room, we have lots of toiletries! The beds were so comfortable, I slept so well!

The fitness center looked great, but an extra charge to use it was odd. Having to pay for Internet was a big disappointment as well; it is not very convenient to not have the ability to open your computer in your room to get work done! Room Service was not a great experience, long waits for delivery and burned pizza (twice!)

Check out was fast and easy, your front desk staff is great! And the bellboy who helped us out to our car was awesome! He loaded that trunk up with so much luggage and so quickly!

Overall I would say this was a good stay, but for the price and cost of all other little things, I may consider staying elsewhere if I were ever back in Louisville.

We were in Louisville for a conference & booked a king room with a fold-out for the kids. We were given a suit with two massive bedrooms, each with its own bath, as well as a large living room. The room was very nice & spacious. Decor a bit dated, but this is a grand dame type of place. We had a great time staying here with room to let the kids spread out & to invite friends over. Terrific hotel!!

This is a nice hotel (not sumptuous), clean, comfortable rooms, nice views, convenient to the river walk and to the convention center. Many restaurants near by are better than those inside. Gym is an extra fee, but is reasonable and nice. Internet is an extra fee unless you are here for a convention. Very large hotel, much chaos and noise in the lobby and the connector between the two towers (the Conservatory) but the rooms are quiet.

We just returned from 3 nights at the Galt House, staying in the Suite Tower. Very disappointed, as I expected better. My points are specific, and the bad points just outweighed the good. We were satisfied with the valet and bell service; the RivVue Restaurant was great. The convention facilities were good.

Now here's our complaints: from day one, the telephones in the room would not work; you could not dial room service, or the valet service, or anywhere else. So I went and told the front desk, they said they would check on it right away. It never was fixed, we had to use our cell phones to call the hotel, to then connect to room service, or the valet. I mentioned this to the bellman as we were leaving (I had to go down to them to bring one up, since I didn't know their number) and he told me the entire phone system had been experiencing problems.

The hotel has a policy requring you to buy alcohol from the hotel; I have no problem with that, we ordered a bottle of wine from room service (using our cell phone) and it took an hour to deliver a bottle of wine and 2 glasses. The wait staff attendant said he was the only one working (this was at 9:00pm, and at least 1 major convention was in the hotel).

Both the couch and chair in the suite were in poor shape, the springs appeared shot and you almost sank to the floor when sitting down. This was perplexing, as the suite itself is very, very nice. By the same token, the mattresses on the beds (2 double beds) were uncomfortable, hard, and the pillows appeared old and worn.

But once again, the suite in appearance was nice, with 2 flat screen TV's, yet one of the remote controls was inoperable. Just needed batteries I suppose.

Then what really seemed incredible was the shower - this suite had a terrific walk-in shower, which was huge, first class. But the only place to put anything (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, razor, bottle of wine, or anything else) was 1 small soap dish affixed to the wall!! How can you install such a great shower with no place to put anything you choose to bring into the shower? And with such a great shower, there is a just a standard showerhead? For $20 you could put in a rainshower extension. You will just have to go see it for yourself to understand what we mean.

When checking out, I told the desk clerk the phones were never fixed, and to her credit she knocked off a room service charge (for the bottle of wine which took an hour to deliver).
Next time a convention is held at the Galt House and I need to attend, we'll stay at the Seelbach. Or maybe the Marriott. No one is paying attention to the details at the Galt House.

I stayed in a suite, and while the sofa bed was comfortable, the room has very thin walls. This means when the cleaner goes through before 7:30 am knocking on every door offering room service, you will hear it. If revelers come back late at night, you will hear their loud conversation in the hallway and in their room. That said, security came almost immediately when I requested the loud talkers be asked to keep their conversation down, but then I heard the security officer knocking on the door with real banging and talking through the door to announce his arrival. At 2:30 am it was all resolved, but what a night! Hence the early room service offer was not too appreciated. (Note: use your "Do not Disturb" sign like we did and you won't receive a knock at the door.)

To end on a good note: Parking is convenient below the hotel, and free with a room key. I had some trouble with the card reader as I was leaving, but the attendant just waved me through.

I took my daughter to a One Direction concert and elected to stay at the Galt because of it's proximity to the Yum Center. The hotel has very nice rooms. The public areas are all very nicely done with free Wifi access. The views are great, the pool area view is especially nice. Check-in was a breeze. All in all a very good property and one I will return to.
