Description: Fresh American Cuisine Ample portions of fresh, home-cooked food with a southern accent served with love in an artistically eclectic-industrial setting. That's why The Cafe has gathered legions of loyal customers and friends since 1996. Experienced restaurateurs Sal and Cindy Rubino delight in offering one of Louisville's most rewarding, affordable breakfast and lunchtime dining experiences. Sal can often be found "out front" greeting and serving guests, while Cindy has drawn on her decades of diverse cooking experience to develop the Cafe's unique menu of hearty breakfasts and mouth-watering pastries, satisfying sandwiches, elegant salads, hearty soups, and decadent desserts. The Cafe's inviting setting is a big part of its appeal. Located in a creatively restored old warehouse on the eastern edge of downtown Louisville, we may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you! Once inside, you will fall in love with this one-of-a-kind dining experience. So much so that you may want to share a wedding rehearsal, anniversary party or some other important evening event with us! The Cafe's breakfast and lunch customers are an interesting mix of people from all walks of life, all enjoying delicious food at an exceptional value.

“Innovative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

The Cafe takes the usual and puts a nice spin on it. The pizza with pimento cheese and bacon on pita was crazy good! I have never seen a restaurant in Louisville with great tomatoes in January. Unheard of! The oatmeal for breakfast is delish and oh so filling. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

“Wow! Great Breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

I love this little place. I normally go fairly early on a Saturday morning to avoid the crowds that start turing up around "brunch-time". I have never had enything here that I didn't absolutely love. There's a great "Breakfast Scramble" where bacon and eggs and cheese sit on a base of creamy grits. There's biscuits and gravy the size of your head. If you're trying to "Carb up" that's your dish. My own personal favorite is the Strata Del Giorno with meat (they have it as a vegetarian entree as well). It's kind of like a quiche on streroids. There's a huge square of delicious yumminess that includes eggs, tomato, spinach, bacon and onion. You can get fresh fruit with it or potatoes (if I recall correctly). The Cafe also offers all kinds of lunch dishes as well as breakfast including a pizza made with pimiento cheese. All in all, it's a very good value for money and great ambience and service.

“We loved The Cafe on Brent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We were heading for Hammerheads and they were closed on Mondays, but the owner told us to go to The Cafe on Brent. Why an unexpected treat! Their chicken and pasta salad was excellent, the decor light and fun, and the servers were so helpful and kind. They had some very enticing cakes like Italian cream cake and chocolate cake displayed but our lunch portions were so big that we had no more room. Definitely a good find!

“Great food, great atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We were driving down broadway looking for a place to have lunch and saw their billboard. We were not disappointed. Food was excellent. They are open for breakfast and lunch 7am to 4pm. I had the RUBINO sandwich, my wife had the chicken salad. Service was excellent, stopped by our table several times to see if we needed anything. We will be going back again.

“Super-pleased that we found this unique establishment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

While traveling with family and friends, we stumbled across this excellent restaurant in Louisville. The cuisine, service, and atmosphere fit all of our tastes far better than most places we visit. I cannot understate how both of those elements fit at The Cafe. The only challenge for new visitors to the area such as we were, might be its location - where finding the location without a GPS might be a challenge for some. Each one of our 5 dishes were prepared perfectly and served with excellence. We felt the price was very well in line for the level of quality and service especially within a city setting. I really enjoyed the decor and the separation between guests while not feeling too isolated. Although we were very pleased with our server, one dish did come out later than the others. We know these events happen and it was handled very well and did not affect our experience. If we are anywhere near this area again, we will undoubtedly make the stop.
