“Pleasant B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

My partner and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Austin's. The Inn keepers, Tom and Mary, were so cordial and kind. The B&B consists of two Victorian homes which are connected by a courtyard. The decor is beautiful and rich and the atmosphere inviting. Our room was spacious and tidy. The attention to small details were everywhere, from stress relieving lotions to an alarm clock which projects the time on the ceiling!
The hot tub in our room was one of the more comfortable we've ever experienced and was a relaxing way to end our evening. The breakfast we enjoyed in the morning was excellently prepared and delicious! An omelet with portabella mushrooms and spinach topped with cheddar. Fresh pineapple, roasted potatoes and country ham accompanied the omelet. All served in a lovely dining room complete with beautiful dishes. We also dined with some great folks from W. Va and Arizona.
Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to enjoy the parlor or the game room but we did enjoy some time in the garden.
We found the room rate to be very fair especially with all of the amenities. If there is one draw back it would be the location. I wouldn't recommend taking a late night stroll. If you should need to go out late I would take your car. There are some very cool old shops, restaurants and bars in immediate area. Also, a room toward the front of the B&B would probably be better for sleeping. Our room was toward the back of the house which is just feet from the highway which was incredibly noisy. We would consider staying again when in Louisville.

Room Tip: Room toward the front of the B&B would most likely be quieter.

My wife and I stayed at Austin's Inn Place B&B last weekend. We found it while doing a search on a B&B web site. We wanted to spend a day in Louisville exploring and decided that this was the place to stay.
Overall, we loved it. The rooms were clean and spacious. We had one of their hot tub rooms, which we found to be very relaxing after a busy day traveling.
They offered complimentary cokes and water via a stocked refridgerator in the kitchen, along with cookies and snacks. We also took advantage of their game room, complete with dart board, pool table and movies.
The breakfast was a southern homemade breakfast which was excellent.

My wife and I had a date weekend that included a night stay at Austin's Inn Place Bed and Breakfast. We were both very impressed with this gem of an inn in our own hometown. Located in the historic Old Louisville section of town made up over many stately victorian homes, this b&b is two connected homes, beautifully furnished with antiques and modern conveniences. Our room was comfortable and clean. The host and hostess ensured a nice stay and served a wonderful breakfast the next morning. Both the grounds and buildings were neat and tidy and location is central to town. I highly recommend this charming b&b!

We stayed at Austin's Inn during the St. James Court Art Show. The hosts, Tom and Mary, couldn't have been more kind and helpful. The Inn is very charming. I'm a stickler for cleanliness and this place was spotless. The bed in our king room was very comfortable and the linens were high quality. Mary made a delicious hot breakfast in the morning. It was nice to have access to a refrigerator for guests stocked with bottled water and soft drinks. We highly recommend Austin's Inn and we will definitely stay there again.

We just returned from a perfect stay at the beautiful Austin's B & B. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean, and we had one of the best breakfasts we have had anywhere. Our hosts were delightful and helpful and considerate of our needs and schedule. I would most definitely give this the highest rating.

Mary and Tom were the nicest people. We even went back to stay a second night and they couldn't house us again so Mary called another B&B for us to stay in. It was very kind of her to do so. The room was great, very comfy king size bed with hot tub. A great variety of snacks and beverages. The breakfast was fantastic. Bowl of cantelope followed by a course of country ham, biscuits with hommade strawberry jam, and an omlett with spinach, mushrooms and cheese. Worth every penny.

We selected Austin's Inn Bed and Breakfast based on previous reviews. Our group of seven traveled to Louisville to attend a conference at the downtown convention center. Austin's was within walking distance (about six-eight blocks) from the major downtown attractions.
The owners, Tom and Mary, are gracious and charming hosts with a relaxed and friendly demeanor. They seemed to instictively know what a newcomer to Louisville needs to know and they happily offered great suggestions for restaurants and local attractions.

The inn is a unique blend of two homes that are spotlessly clean, and tastefully appointed. Our group enjoyed the pool table, the darts and the other generous amenities, including the snack room. Bottled water and assorted beverages were always available in the guest refridgerator. Snacks, fresh cookies and fruit were always available. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Everyone in our group raved about their fantastic sleep in the luxuriously appointed king and queen beds.

Breakfast is actually a gourmet event at Austin's. Mary carefully explains each dish and it is obvious that she takes great pride in her delicious creations. Local ingredients are highlighted, including Kentucky Bourbon Mash pancakes. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. After dining at Austin's for breakfast, lunch is definitely optional.

We stayed for two nights and wished we had an excuse to stay longer. The rates are comparable to the downtown hotels, but the value far exceeds anything you will find nearby. We felt that Austin's Inn was the highlight of our trip to Louisville....a great city with a fantastic Inn.
