“Well worth the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We were so surprised how much we enjoyed the museum and the inside the gate tour. We are not racing fans, but we do watch the Kentucy Derby every year. We thought we would be in and out very quickly, but the exhibits/displays kept our interest for 1.5hours and the the tour was another 1 hour and 40 mins. We truly enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to anyone, adults ad children.

“Great Museum, great tours!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We made reservations for our tours the previous day. I highly recommend that you do this (even earlier if possible). If you want to see horses being groomed and working out on the track (highly recommended), get up early and take the early morning tours. The Kentucky Derby museum is not too big and it is well done with wonderful exhibits, interactive displays and a very nice movie. You don't need to be a passionate horse lover to appreciate this place! Make sure to take all the tours if possible. We walked around much of the facility and the tour guides were excellent. They are very knowledgeable and fully engaged in providing you with a great experience.

“Great stop in Louisville!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We stopped here on our way down to Florida with kids ages 6 and 8. We arrived early in the morning as it was suggested so that we could watch the race horses exercise in the morning. This was definitely the highlight of the museum. Really a great experience. The museum was very well done, and no one was bored. We watched the 360 degree movie and walked all around. Don't miss upstairs! We got to try on jockey outfits for ourselves. We were there for about 3 hours.

“Just at least go through the lobby and gift shop.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We didn't have the time to do the tour but walked around the lobby and went through the gift shop. It gaves us a good feel of what it would be like. The shop had a great selection of male and female hats to purchase. Something for every age. The staff were very friendly and were willing to answer questions and told us to drive around the block with maybe a look at some horses from the stalls. There is also a starting gate in the entrance for a great photo opportunity. The front is a great place to take a picture too with a fantastic statue and history.

“Incredible!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We went to the Kentucky Derby Museum and LOVED it. We paid extra to see the Barn and Backside Tour, which was well worth every penny spent! We got to see former race winners, current race horses and the horses in action. Hint: take the tour EARLY, before 10am, and you'll get to see the horses going through their morning workouts.

The walking history tour of the Museum is included in the Museum fee, and was also very interesting. Our guide, Jose, was very talkative and informative. The Museum itself is wonderful, I could get lost in there for hours. All in all, we had a great experience at the museum!
