“My Bourbon Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

The Hill House was the first B&B I had stayed at and will always be the bench mark. A wonderful home in a fantastic location made outstanding by one of the nicest hosts one could ever wish to meet.
Thanks Lisa for such a memorable stay and I can wait to return as soon as I possibly can.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Thoroughbred Room and could not fault it.

On rerouting our drive to Kentucky, we made a last minute late cancellation at our booked hotel, and found The Hill House. Although still having to pay for the hotel accomodation, we found we had made the right choice. What an absolute gem, our hostess Lisa Marie was, as was her B&B. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family, in every way, particularly our breakfast the next morning. WOW!! Truly perfect and yes we wanted to stay, next time for more than one night. Hopefully we will get back one day, but definately this is the place to be for sure, when in Kentucky.

Booked only a few nights before traveling to Kentucky and the process was pleasant. After a 15 hour drive from MA, we were exhausted and the process of getting from the car into the room was seamless. The property is a classic little B&B in the middle of a quiet backroad in the tiny town of Loretto. The room was charming, clean and comfortable. There's nothing better than waking up in the morning to the smell of delicious aromas coming from the kitchen below and Lisa Marie's breakfast did not disappoint. All in all a very charming B&B in a nice location about thirty minutes south of Louisville. I highly recommend.

The Hill House is, without doubt, the cleanest B&B that I have been in. When one enters a guest room, there is NO unpleasant smell. The towels, sheets, bedding are of the highest quality. Clean, and no soap smell. Hardwood floors also are clean too.
It is apparent that Lisa Marie, the Hill House host, has an eye for interior design. Tasteful, not over done, appropriate for the Kentucky Bourbon theme. The Hill House is truly not your run of the mill B&B.
The breakfast surpassed expectation. Fresh ingredients in the omelet, fresh juice, coffee, jams, broiled asparagus and more all contributed to a great breakfast. No one will leave hungry.

In conclusion, I would recommend The Hill House. Many more visits in my future.

We stayed one night at the Hill House and enjoyed every minute of our stay there. Lisa Marie is a gracious hostess who offered lots of help in planning our day in Loretto. The Hill House is lovely, very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Thoroughbred Room on the 1st floor and our friends stayed upstairs in an equally nice room. The breakfast served in the morning was exceptional and delicious. The other guests at the B&B joined us at stops at the barrel cooperage, moonshine distillery & Marker's Mark all within a short drive from the Hill House. If we are ever in the area again, or know of anyone traveling in that area I would highly recommend the Hill House!

Lisa Marie makes every effort to ensure comfort & relaxation for the guests. We stayed one night with another couple and met another wonderful couple from Louisiana staying also at the inn. Lisa Marie made wonderful suggestions on great stops we otherwise would not have taken the time to see. The visit to the Cooperage in Lebanon was amazing, so glad we didn't miss this one. Our breakfast was delicious, a full course meal with fresh juice, fresh breads, quiche, muffin, sausage & potatoes & presented beautifully. Our room was upstairs, the Oak room, very large bathroom with jacquizzi tub! Thank you Lisa Marie!

Hill House is a nice small inn at the halfway point on the Bourbon Trail. (Maker's Mark is in Loretto.) The innkeeper, Lisa Marie, does a wonderful job of making you comfortable from the time you walk in the door. Wine, cheese and crackers are available each afternoon or there were corkscrews, glasses, etc if you brought your own. There is a very nice patio area outside the back door and a small porch off the 2nd floor. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and stayed with you until mid-afternoon. You definitely can skip lunch. Breakfasts were varied and over my visit there were no repeats. One treat was a pawpaw and banana salad. Had never had pawpaw before. It's good. If you're in the area I'd recommend staying at this B&B.
