We had been on several tours at this point, but Maker's had some unique stuff to offer. First, their grounds are beautiful, especially decorated for the holidays. Second, they ask you to not only feel the heat coming out of the giant vats of mash, they actually ask you to taste it at each of the steps. Very cool. You could taste days 1, 2 and 3 of the mash. Then, after the tour, you get to taste the "white dog," the Maker's, an over aged Maker's, (so you can see why what they do is perfect just the way it is.) then the newbie, Maker's 46. Of course the gift shop highlight is hand dipping your own bottle of Maker's, which my husband did. The people were very friendly, and very helpful. That means so much when you are on a mini vacation, like we are. I can't imagine how many husbands live their dream, hand dipping a bottle of Maker's, and the girls in the gift shop treated every one of them with patience and kindness. It was a great tour, worth the $7!
