“Home Cookin' & Lots of It!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We stopped at Ramsey's for the first time and were very pleased. Southern style cookin' with heaping helpings, to say the least. They support locally grown items and have an amazing little pie shop next door that bakes all of their desserts. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings and a nice place to dine. Would highly recommend and we will be back!

“Kentucky Hot Brown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

On a recent trip through Kentucky we first heard of the Kentucky Hot Brown, a local sandwich apparently originally created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville. Asking around Lexington for the best version there we were referred to Ramsey's on High Street. It is near the University campus and appears to be a favorite with students.

I had the Hot Brown while my wife had the Buffalo Wing sandwich, which had good flavor but was somewhat dry. The Hot Brown was a real experience: A slice of toasted white bread topped with sliced turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, tomato and bacon, then a layer of mornay (?) sauce and cheddar cheese. The entire plate (which is filled) is then placed under the broiler until the cheese is melted.

The Hot Brown was very good, and a fun experience, but it more than fulfills your need for food or calories for the rest of the day. Would recommend it if you are in Lexington, or, if elsewhere in Kentucky give it a try.

“In town for a week-end wedding............”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

and ended up eating here for brunch/lunch both days! Great value, plenty of seating for large parties without a long wait and delicious, home cooked southern food. Loved all the fresh local veggie options (pickled beets, corn/okra/tomatoes and pinto beans were favs) and also enjoyed the fried catfish and chicken salad.......yes there are some heavy options but you can find healthy options too.

“Delicious home style meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is a good option for couples, families, friends, singles or whoever wants good value. Since the meat and three plate was huge, we split one meal. The fried chicken and sides were all delicious, This left room for the amazing pies that are made in the shop next door. I wish that Ramsey's was closer to home.

“Good ole southern food with great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

As a southerner, I have eaten my fair share of southern food and this would be a good place to get some. I can't rate it with 5 stars because my mom and grandma can do better haha but the restaurant has great food especially their summer specials with fresh corn and tomatoes and their famous chicken salad. Their buffalo chicken is delicious as well, not to mention the fact that they make their own bleu cheese! You will not leave hungry and I would highly recommend trying their homemade pies as well!! Their fried green tomatoes are fantastic although I wouldn't recommend their corn bread. Also, they carry Ale-8-One (Kentucky-made Ginger ale) by the bottle which not many places do.
