Three of us were looking for a non-Olive Garden Italian restaurant where we could relax and chat at an after-work dinner. Bella Notte is beauitful -- the gigantic yellow-lit tree overspreading the dining room is a classic -- and the food made us very happy. We shared a family-size house salad, which was just right for the three of us. We each had a pasta. The sauces are interesting and really tasty (love the two gorgonzola ones -- the spinach in one was perfectly cooked to remain leafy, not always easy). In spite of the fact that we were each taking home a doggie bag, we ordered the chocolate souffle and three spoons. The perfect ending to a lovely meal. Look for the seasonal dishes, all of which sounded divine. The prices were moderate, with the pastas all under $20, and you can choose from a single or family-size serving (great for sharing these fabulous tastes). I am not from Lexington, but I believe this is a locally-owned, family restaurant -- even better! Don't let the location on busy Nicholasville Rd near the mall make you think it's a chain you've never heard of. The bonus was that it is not too loud in there to actually hold a conversation, which can be a rarity these days. Bravo.
