Don't let the location fool you, this is a hidden gem in Lexington. Granted the inside decor could use some help but they focus on the food. The music was a bit loud but it added to the Caribbean feel. My husband ordered some of the barbeque jerk wings to start with and the sauce was delicious. It had the right amount of heat without being too overpowering. Each meal comes with johnny cakes (in this case it's more like fried dough vs friend cornbread) topped with honey. You also get a choice of a side, the day's vegetable and a pattie if they have it (unfortunately no patties on our visit). I went with the jerk shrimp kabob and rasta pasta. My husband chose the jerk chicken breast with fried rice. Our dining companions also got the shrimp kabob and then the seafood kabob (shrimp and fish in a buttery sauce). One of them choice the coconut rice as a side. Our vegetable of the day was a salad. The jerk seasoning on the shrimp was very fiery but it had a good flavor. I actually preferred the saucier jerk sauce on the chicken. The rasta pasta was okay but go tired of the taste quickly. The coconut rice could be a bit more coconutty although the fried rice had a good flavor. Overall it was a delicious and affordable meal. My only complain is that drinks are bottled sodas (although there are a few Jamaican choices). They would do well to put in a fountain machine.
