Windy Corner is a lovely hideaway tucked in with the beautiful horse farms that surround Lexington. The food was some of the best and freshest that I've had since moving here from New England! Of particular note was the fried oyster salad. It was a treat to get great tasting oysters, yes, but what I truly loved was the bed of greens. You can definitely tell that they were picked fresh, and consisted of baby spinach, some beet greens, and the surprise of chickweed, celery tops, and what I think was a nettle! Wonderful! Those additions made for a flavorful bed for the crisp fried oysters. And the smokey tomato dressing is simply the best, complimenting the entire dish perfectly.
My husband had a moist, flavorful pork po-boy that was sizable, too. It was topped with fried pickles, and piping hot fries on the side. The desserts were good, too. In particular, the bread pudding with butter sauce was heaven...
The atmosphere was perfect for a lunch date, though I would think that it could get crowded easily. On a nice sunny day looking out over the horse farms, watching them run through the fields...I didn't want to go back to work :)
And I can't wait to go again!
