“It Could Use a Touch-up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

This is in the middle of what appears to be a new area being built up. There is an excellent restaurant across the street called AZUL that you can walk to in about 90 seconds, and a few others next to it you can chose from. However despite the upscale and new-looking neighbors, the hotel looks like it could use a touch-up. The front door is the irritating single door that must be pulled open, instead of the wide sliding doors. There is only one elevator. And the king room was spartan, with no reading chair, for example. But they are working on it. When I stayed in June 2014, the breakfast area was cordoned off for renovations, and the lobby floor was torn up. So it's getting better.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. For example, o make up for the lack of a breakfast area, they offer to bring a warm breakfast to your room at a time of your choosing, and you can supplement it with the usual cold offerings and DIY waffle, which are set up in a guest room on the first floor near the lobby. They also have 10% off coupons for the nearby Waffle House during the renovation.

Stayed at this hotel while traveling---both business and some family time traveling with my wife and 2 sons. I was never notified until arrival that the breakfast area was under renovation despite making my reservation 2 months prior. The room smelled like stale cigarettes despite being a "non-smoking" room. Don't think I would care to stay there again.

The hotel was under renovations while we were there so the dining room for breakfast but the room was still clean and the staff were great. Lots of water pressure in the shower. Although there is no breakfast due to the renovations (it has to get done sometime) they did have an offer for 10% off the Waffle House next door. I would stay here again without reservation.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Lexington KY, Hampton Inn South. While the hotel is showing a a bit of its age (only 1 elevator; old carpet in the rooms and worn furniture) the staff more than makes up for it. Everyone from the front desk clerks, staff maintaining the breakfast items, to the maintenance man we passed in the hallway were very polite, friendly and thanked us for staying at the hotel. The rooms were your typical Hampton Inn rooms, same for the continental breakfast in the mornings. Room and bathroom were clean as was the lobby and breakfast area. Hotel is convenient to the airport and Keeneland race course. Would recommend this Hampton Inn if you are in Lexington and need to stay on the east side of town.

Unfortunately, we stayed at this hotel for four nights. Our room was on the third floor, across from the elevator and yes, I did request the highest (third) floor, but I didn't realize that the walls were so thin and on our first night, didn't count on non-stop partying from 1 am to 4 am down the hall - seems that several rooms were occupied by this group of party goers. I did call the front desk at around 2 am to report the noise, it was quiet for about fifteen minutes and then started up again. Not a good night!

The location of this property is good, ample parking and in proximity to freeways and several restaurants.

However, the staff appeared to be neither friendly nor unfriendly. Not sure why that is, didn't get
a great feeling of welcome, we are here to help you.

The business center is a lone computer located in the lobby/registration area. It is so slow, you
would not want to use it. Needs to be upgraded and moved to a different location.

The room is a good space with refrigerator and microwave available. The bathroom is very
small and strangely set up. No space between the sink area, toilet and tub/shower. Too cozy....

The breakfast is typical Hampton fare, although we only ate there one morning and the male
attendant that morning was very nice, friendly and accommodating.

There are many other choices in Lexington, I would look hard at others before deciding on this
Hampton.

Room Tip: I would say third floor, but if you have party goers on the same floor, be prepared.

For the last several years, my place of business has chosen the Hampton Inn Lexington-South for our annual trip to Lexington. From the beginning, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel/room, the friendly & knowledgeable staff, and the selection of amenities. An excellent complimentary breakfast including hot & cold cereals, breads/pastries, eggs, potatoes, juice, biscuits & gravy and sausage is available beginning at 6:00 a.m. Additionally, there are several good restaurants within walking distance and refreshments (tea, coffee, freshly baked cookies, etc.) are available in the lobby all day. The rooms are spacious and several feature king size beds. Check in/out is a breeze and the internet connection is good. In approximately five years time, I have had no complaints and would definitely recommend Hampton Inn Lexington-South to anyone planning to stay in this area.

This is your standard Hampton Inn - clean, comfortable, pretty good continental breakfast, convenient location near expressways. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and flexible, or as much as they could be with a hotel packed with people from three wedding parties and two soccer tournaments. The pool was nice. We stayed two nights and then an unexpected third night when we had car trouble. Well into the night of our unexpected third night, the staff bent over backwards to get us into the one open room and find one extra blanket (all extra pillows and blankets were, of course, long taken). We appreciated their extra efforts after a 75 mile tow back to Lexington.
