Check in was kind of strange for us. We arrived about 5:30 and were given a key, but the clerk said our room would have no running water for the next two hours. She said they were expecting a plumber to work on our part of the building and that he would be done by 7:30. When we said we had driven all day from Georgia and would like to use the bathroom in another room to get ready for dinner out with friends, she said that was impossible, but she would be more than happy to "cancel our reservation". She would not even give us two bottles of water to hold us over. When the manager in the back heard the conversation, he came out and apologized and told the clerk to put us in "room 5" where the water was on. This room was very nice, but I had no way to judge how much better it was than a regular room, as I never saw anything else.
The check-out help the next morning could not have been nicer, and the rooms are really kind of neat, being part of an old southern historic home. Breakfast is fine, and the typical Hampton Inn setup.
I hope the evening clerk was an anomaly, otherwise the stay was fine. To us, getting good service trumps any other amenity a hotel can offer- hence I'm only submitting two stars here.
