I love food but I'm not really well-versed in REALLY good BBQ. When my family was traveling through Lexington last week during spring break, I had found this place on the internet and decided to give it a try. It's basically in what I would describe as a strip mall... a bit out of the way, for sure. We got carry-out and I think I would've given it 5 stars if I'd had the opportunity to eat it at the restaurant while it was still piping hot.... as it was we had to haul it back to our hotel room 20 minutes away. The sides were okay, but I hear that the sweet potato fries are delish... unfortunately, I hate sweet potatoes. The cole slaw was, well, cole slaw. The fries weren't anything unusual, the baked beans were decent but nothing to write home about. BUT THE MEAT? YUMMY! The kids got a pulled pork sandwich and I scarfed half of my son's, and my husband (who insisted he wasn't very hungry) ate almost an entire slab of ribs that were originally for us to share. My kids liked the sweet bbq sauce, while hubby and I liked it spicy. My only complaint was that as a carryy-out, there weren't enough napkins or sauce. I had a beer at the bar while waiting for my food and the bartender was a nice kid attending college at UK. The seating area looked average and the bar was tiny but had a full bar. I was able to pick up a funky t-shirt for hubby that was completely inappropriate but what would you expect from a place called "Butt Rub!?" Next time I pass through, this will be on my list of places to grab some Que.
