Description: In July 2004 Will Pieratt and Kevin Heathcoat took a the huge leap of faith and opened Bourbon n' Toulouse by maxing out seven credit cards and simply hoping things worked out for the best. The business plan was simple: cook some damn good food, give back to the community that help keep their lights on and have as much fun as the law allows! Ten years later these guys are still extremely passionate about what they do and they haven't grown up a bit, just ask their wives! Always cooking and laughing, these guys are serious about having fun. Stop in and sample the wide array of tasty Cajun and Creole dishes, grab a beer from the ever changing selection and drift away to their own little version of The French Quarter. Not bad for a washed up musician and a retired elementary teacher!

Fantastic food, spicy, and you can still taste all the ingredients. Really friendly staff, great atmosphere! You guys should be on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. This is just the kind of food Guy would love!

“Simple and Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

This was a descent meal at a very reasonable price. However; I'm not sure how the restaurant made it to #1 out of 366 others in Lexington.
Simple: order at the counter but first you must look at the chalk board overhead to make sure they haven't sold out of what you want. You can get half a plate of food or a whole plate of food. If you want two items, no problem, get a half and half.
Your name will be called when your food is ready. It will be served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. Not much simpler than that.
As usual, I had to try the sweet tea. It was good, but needed a "pink thing" to make it just right.
There's not a lot of seating, but we didn't have a problem even at lunch time.
I ordered red beans and sausage, which comes with a hard bread with what I presume was some type of garlic mixture. A full plate was just too much for this dish. Should have gotten a half and half. My meal was tasty and a little spicy - yum.
My guess is that college students frequent this establishment and have promoted this store to a number one ranking - price and taste with simple atmosphere.
Parking can be a little confusing. There are metered spots on both sides of the street in front. However; I think there is free parking behind the store with door access in the back.
I will go back at some point.

“Casual and perfect”

Really great. We liked the chicken creole and the black beans and rice (with sausage). What you get for your money is A LOT!

“Lotta kick for your buck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

It's a sit-down, pay-before you eat joint but in our case and everyone we watched, the food was ready before you sit down. Cashier was VERY friendly and helpful. Price was dirt cheap. A guy basically portions out food from premade steam plates, but this isn't a bad thing.
I had the chicken etouffay and jambalaya, wife had the crawfish aytouffay and some red sauce dish. Obviously we are not Cajun connoisseurs but we loved it all the same. We are both full, the music and atmosphere is local and young and alive, and the food was great for the price. A real class act.

“What A Pleasant Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Now I know why Bourbon n' Toulouse is the #1 rated restaurant in Lexington. My son and I sought this diner out on E. Euclid Ave in trendy Chevy Chase and almost missed it because it was so small. Between us, we had Jambalaya, white chicken chili and shrimp étouffée. What's more, we had $2 bottles of beer; Wow! We left there with our appetites more than sated and had some leftover for home. Our $19 tab was a terrific value for all the food we ate. I'll definitely come back here. http://www.bntlexington.com/index.html
