When we visited Lexington in late July, it was not racing season, but we were able to watch racehorses up close and in action during their morning workout at Keeneland. It was really a unique opportunity to see these beauties in action. The track kitchen is open for breakfast, too. Free admission -- you just have to figure out how to get to the viewing area from the parking lot; that was a bit confusing but we found our way in. The morning workouts are generally 6:30am to 10am. The gift shop was also open for souvenir-shopping.

I grew up in Western Kentucky and had never been to Keeneland until I was in my 20's. Having been to other tracks in Kentucky I wasn't sure what to expect. I LOVED IT!!!!! Now my husband and I make it a point to go at least once a meet. Now that we have moved to Lexington, we go more frequently. Keeneland definitely is a wonderful experience especially in the spring when the dogwoods and cheery trees are in bloom. Keeneland shows that Kentucky, the Bluegrass Region, Lexington, and horse racing are truly spectacular. The special bond between Lexington and horse racing is perfectly illustrated at Keeneland. If you haven't been, make it a point to go. You'll love it.

The grounds of this beautiful historic horse track in Lexington, Kentucky are absolutely emaculate.
The most recent time we were there the sun was shining, there was a light breeze, as perfect of a day as you could want. We both enjoy walking around and just people watching.
-If you have never gone to Keeneland it is someplace that every one needs to go and visit at least once in their life preferably in the Spring. -
If you experience it you will know why God made spring in Ky so wonderful.Ask anyone and they will tell you,you need to feel the Keeneland experience yourself.Really looking forward to the upcoming Spring meet in April.
