“Only had time to tour the grounds - can't wait to go back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

I am a history teacher and I adore Henry Clay. We were coming back through Lexington from Gatlinburg and I asked that we go to Ashland. How awesome! We didn't have time to do the tour properly as my two toddlers were in tow, but I will go back again. The gift shop is wonderful (picked up a great book on H.C.) and the grounds are nicely described. The gift shop/ tour attendant was very nice and directed me to the adjacent room where Henry Clay's glasses were on display. Again, just awesome.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

My husband and I visited on a Saturday morning while in Lexington. The tour was great. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable-only thing he never asked us if we had any questions. If anyone did ask a question-it kind of took him off his memorization. But he did a great job informing us of a lot of information.

The grounds are nice. We walked through all the buildings on the property and the garden. It was a hot day or we would have spent more time walking around.

The tour was reasonably priced and worth it.

“Worthy of a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

On a recent sporting trip to Lexington, we were looking for something to do, and came upon tours of Ashland. The one hour guided tour of the interior of the house showed the main rooms of the house. It did not include what they called the servants side of the house which I would think would have been interesting to see. They tours begin on the hour and the last tour begins at 4pm. Also, they are closed on Mondays and have limited hours on Sunday. The tour is reasonably priced, as well. Ashland is worth a visit while on your trip to Lexington.

“Beautiful mansion with lots of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Get the guided tour when you visit. The visit will jog your 8th grade history memory. Henry Clay was a very wealthy, very accomplished statesman. His home is beautiful with authentic furnishings. Nice way to spend a couple of hours when you're not visiting horses.
