“Beaaaaaautiful.”

It seems weird, but I love cemeteries. there is something peaceful and romantic about them. This cemetery is filled with gorgeous memorials. Its a peaceful place to walk and spend time reading all of the old stones.

“Beautiful”

As cemeteries go, this one has got to be one of the most beautiful in the country. Many old trees and the landscaping is unequaled.

“Beauty & History combined”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Lexington Cemetery is located right off of Main Street Lexington, hidden behind the guild of beautiful old wrought iron gates.
Many people enter the cemetery by day and also early evening (in warm weather) to meander the many pathways and soak in the serenity offered here.
The tree selection is unparalleled along this property and you can stop in the front office and actually pick up a guide to help you identify the many varieties and their leaf structure as you make your way around the cemetery.
The grave markers range from new to incredibly old and ornate, and it is interesting to read the names and attach to the local history of well known Lexington families.
The beauty of this place is marvelous and its a joy to take a stroll alone or bring along your children to enjoy a few hours.

“A beautiful, inviting cemetery worth exploring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

As others have noted, the landscaping here is gorgeous. I'm always intrigued by the small differences in memorials among graveyards in different parts of the country. Here, I noted a lot of arches: curved arches, memories with multiple columns, etc. You'll also see an imposing memorial where Henry Clay is buried.

If exploring, be sure to look under some of the large magnolia trees - some of the older stones can be found here.
