“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Poplar Creek Lodge is one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed in. They really care about their guests. Great place to park your boat and keep an eye on it (right at your door). They are so friendly. We have stayed here several times and will continue to stay here. Another plus, they sponsor the youth in fishing at the KBFN youth tournaments and if the youth stays with them and wins 1st or 2nd, the youth will also receive $$ from the lodge.

The hotel room was spotless, even more so considering the age. Water pressure was great, parking was one per room and worked out with trailers attached.

I travel dozens of nights a year and this was as clean as and major hotel. Linens were clean and they over accommodate your needs. Good people who care that you were pleased. Location is off the beaten path and your going to wonder if it's what these reviews say it is. It's all that and more! They lay out your muffins in your room for morning and enough for a pot of coffee, not a mini cup full! They had an AC unit out when we stayed there and we were gong to be fine. After a late supper they were waiting on us when we returned as an open room occurred.

Seems a couple backed out when he saw the twin bed room instead of king. They were waiting to move use be sure our night had a cool room. We would have been just fine as it was.

Don't miss this one if your in the Barkley or K Lake dam areas.

Poplar Creek Lodge was such a great experience and offers traditional pre chain Motel experience for the fisherman. There are electrical hook ups right outside your door to charge up your boat with room to park your truck/boat/trailer in front of your room door with available space / option to park your truck right next to your trailered boat. Now that is convenient!!! The rooms are simple, clean and freshly organized each day after a long day on the lake. It doesn't get better then this. I much prefer this over today's prefab looking motel/hotel chains.

I would recommend Poplar Creek Lodge to anyone staying in the area to fish. The rates were very reasonable and Ms. Katie has to be the nicest and most accommodating person in the hotel industry. She will go out of her way to make your stay is pleasant. Also, she has all the local knowledge for great local restaurants and fun things to do. Her passion is her customers.

Yep, a true fisherman's delight!

My husband, son and I stayed for 7 days on this trip. This is our 2nd time at Poplar Creek Lodge. Its a quaint, cozy and CLEAN place to stay. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The price is very affordable but the main reason we chose to stay there again this year is because of the owners, Katie and Pete. You wont find better hospitality anywhere. They try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Its like staying with family but without the drama. We had a bad storm come thru one night, Katie stayed up listening to her weather radio all night just in case there was a warning for the area so she would be able to warn her quests. I dont know of any other place that would do that. Thank you Katie :) We will definitely be returning next year and I recommend it to everyone. Its the perfect home away from home!!!

This has to be the best place where my husband and I have ever stayed. The room was incredibly clean and so cozy. It felt like being at home. Katie and Pete are wonderful people and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We fished in the rain one morning and Katie came down and got our wet clothes and dried them for us. She was so sweet and did far more than was necessary to make our stay wonderful. We will definitely be back again. It isn't often that you get an opportunity to stay in a family owned motel any longer. It is nice to have that experience again with such awesome people.

Room Tip: The room with the King bed is perfect for a couple. It is beautifully decorated and the bed sleeps b...
