On a tour of Kentucky, we found this hotel to be of the usual high standard of Hampton Hotels, clean & tidy with friendly staff. It was full both nights that we stayed there, some visiting the Mammoth Cave area, and others passing through north or south. The pressure was obvious in the preparation of the rooms and the breakfasts, however the staff did their best but could have done with more hands on a weekend.
I left behind my camera flash gun and some other items in a drawer and after contacting the hotel staff, the missing items were FedXed to me in England arriving three days later - excellent first class service.
Across the highway is the Kentucky Down Under attraction with its animals themed on Australia, and a short underground cave walk which shouldn't deter claustrophobics and which is worth visiting. However whilst we were at the attraction, a tourist's car was broken into and it wasn't hard to see where the culprit could have come from, with a large truckers' stop on the highway just below and just across from the Hampton Inn.
There is very little else at Horse Cave and you have to drive down to Cave City, 10 miles away on the highway to find any other attractions & restaurants and perhaps the Hampton would have been better placed at Cave City. In conclusion, a good place to stop over on a road trip but of limited value if touring the area.
