We recently ate at Da Vinci's and were we in for a wonderful suprise!!
My husband had heard rave reviews from his co-workers, but was still suspicious of a great Italian restaurant in Hopkinsville!!
Needless to say, we are firm believers that Da Vinci's is a little slice of Italy hidden in Hopkinsville!! We started with calamari and a basket of focaccia with oil. The calamari had an excellent flavor...not greasy, but a little chewy. The focaccia was okay and the oil was overpowered with garlic!! I think we will try the meat and cheese sampler next time.
Now, on to the main course...I had spaghetti and meatballs and my husband had pollo saltimbocca. Our friends ordered spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan. Let's just say the spaghetti and meatballs were absolutely the best I have ever eaten!! I was served three large meatballs in a bowl of perfectly cooked spaghetti that was covered in the most amazing marinara sauce...all for a whopping $9!! I have had spaghetti and meatballs in northern Italy and they pale in comparison to these!! Our friends agreed that the simplest dish was also the most exquisite!!
My husband is not a fan of mushrooms and unfortunately they dominated the pollo saltimbocca. The sauce was very rich and creamy, but could not save the chicken!! He actually helped me finish off my dinner...that is how big the portions are!! Oh and if you order the chicken parmesan--plan on sharing that with several people!! We were in shock how huge it was!! The chicken breast was so large that it slightly bordered on being undercooked. However the outer edges were perfectly fried and tasted like a mozzarella cheese stick!!
We were too full for dessert!! We will definitely return to Da Vinci's!! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves authentic Italian!! And our waitress was amazing!! She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, she is moving to OH and can only hope that the next waiteress will be as wonderful as she was!!
TIP: I would strongly suggest reservations!! Thankfully, we took the advice of other trip advisor reviews and made them for a Thurs night!! Had we not, we would have waited about 30 min for a table. It is a small restaurant with limited seating!! If you have to wait, then it is still worth it!!
