“Good value option for a major city stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2011

We chose to stay here due to the proximity of the property to our friends house. We were slightly underwhelmed by the location (next to a main road) but soon realised that this wasn't going to be a major issue once in our accommodation. We experienced no road noise at all, not sure if all of the rooms would be quiet though - check first.

Overall, good value option, and we would probably have this on our list of options should we revisit melbourne

Room Tip: Check room location when booking.

We had to come to Melbourne for a family wedding and did not look forward to travelling with small children. What a pleasant and relaxing stay it was. Staff were so friendly and helpful.. Nothing was too much trouble, Food was great (especially breakfast) and children's needs were well catered for. Room was comfy and great value for money.

The wedding reception was at the Buckingham too and I know the bride was thrilled with how they were looked after. The reception room looked fantastic, with silver and gold everywhere, and so many beautiful flowers. The dinner was outstanding.

Can't recommend them too highly.

Stayed at the Buckingham International for one night, as we were attending a birthday party in the same suburb. Definitely your run-of-the-mill motel - however it WAS very clean, comfortable and decently priced. Rooms seem to have been recently refurbished. Bathroom was clean with new appliances.
I would obviously ONLY recommend this hotel if you need accommodation in the AREA (eg: attending family function, business, golf, etc), as you would not stay in the suburb otherwise (suburban and nothing to do). However it suited our needs perfectly, and would therefore recommend this motel to others who are needing accommodation in this particular area of Melbourne.

After reading the all good reviews here I book this hotel through Expedia for a 3 days stay there.

There were 2 price, a lesser price without breakfast, a higher price with breakfast.
I booked the room with breakfast included so I asked for the breakfast coupon after checked-in but the staff in the reception said it's NOT included in the first place.
Then they required me to print the booking info as evidence of breakfast included. I did that as request.

Having read the printout, this come to the most ridiculus point as the hotel staff said she can provide me breakfast for ONE person as the itinerary didn't show '2 breakfast' but only showed 'Full breakfast' instead. As a result, we will only entitle for breakfast for one.

Hello, I paid extra to booked a room for 2 people with breakfast included. Shall it only mean only ONE breakfast? I think it's unreasonable and insane.

After long time argue, the duty manager came out and said 'okay, we will give you 2 breakfast this time but next time....'

Wasn't it irritating? I just asked for what I had paid, but by the remark of that duty manager it seems it's his mercy & discretion to give 'one extra' for free but which is not the case.

I'm frustrated, I had to fight hard to ask for what I'm entitle to. I'm not a beggar for their mercy right?
There will never be our next time stay there!

My daughter recently had her wedding reception at the Buckingham. The ceremony, reception, the food and the service were faultless. We were looked after very well, and because of the staff at the Buckingham, made it a memorable and wonderful occasion. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and the staff could not do enough for us. The wedding organiser stayed through until every last guest was gone and nothing was overlooked down to the finest detail. We were very, very happy with the entire organised and wonderful effort that the staff put in.

We had business to attend to nearby, early the next morning. Location was perfect. It was very quiet at night despite being almost fully occupied. Being situated on a main highway, with a train line not too far away did not cause any noise problems. The r/c aircon worked well and warmed the room nicely. The bed was comfortable and we had a very good night's sleep. There was a toaster, kettle,a couple of packets of sweet biscuits, tea bags/coffee/sugar/milk, for refreshments. There was a small fridge, stocked with a selection of drinks, and snacks available - at a price. The room was well appointed - a queen sized bed, a desk and chair, a TV on a set of drawers, two lounge chairs (of an upright style, but still very comfortable) a coffee table, two bedside tables with drawer, bedside lamps, clock radio alarm, plenty of cupboard space, with ironing board and iron. The bathroom was modestly sized but more than adequate, with towels - hand and bath, facewashers, and a bathmat. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided. We chose to order breakfast delivered to our room rather than the more expensive buffet style in the restaurant, as we did not have time for a leisurely, larger meal in the morning. It arrived precisely on time. There was a choice of cereals, toast/muffins/crumpets with jam/honey, juices, and modest cooked fare eg eggs/bacon/sausages and the like. Staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Internet in the room was a little slow, but hey, it was free!

We stayed at the Buckingham at short notice and only a standard room (#22) was available. Being situated at the front of the hotel right on the busy Nepean Highway we were concerned about noise especially as it was a rainy night and lots of semi trailers flying past. However with double glazing we didn't hear a thing. The room was modern, spotlessly clean, well-appointed and with a quiet air-conditioning unit/heater. Rather than venture out into the cold wet night we had dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Food was well-priced, of high standard, and service couldn't be faulted. Hotel also offered free WIFI and complimentary internet access through 2 personal computers for guests in the reception area. We will certainly stay there again.
