“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Maya Ubud is marvelous. You will most likely love every bit of your stay. The estate is designed in a way, that it doesn't interfere with the natural landscape. The staff is friendly and helpful. You will not find a single employee not smiling and greeting you on your way to the various activities the hotel offers. The dining is great. The spa is amazing. There is a nature walk and a Temple on the premises. Not sure Maya is the indication what Bali holidays should be like, but we found it absolutely amazing and worth recommending to anyone. I cannot think of a single complaint we had after a few day stay at a garden villa. Enjoy!

We stayed for 4 days (Pool Villa). It is a very quiet hotel and we hardly ever saw the other hotel guests (except for breakfast). We used the Spa once for a Balinese Massage and can only recommend it. The staff go out of their way to help you organise trips or airport transfers. They are really friendly and nice. Rooms are a decent size and the breakfast is delicious.

We had 6 days in ubud, in order to minimize our risk, we have booked maya ubud in which we have stayed dUring our honeymoon in 2009.  Me and my husband have booked the garden villa. We were glad to see that the hotel has managed to preserve its quality. The hotel is beautifully located on a hill between river and rice terraces.
The rooms are clean and spacious.
The cons are the hotel is a bit far from the ubud a despite this fact the last shuttle is at 17.20 from the ubud centre. Although the taxi to hotel is pretty cheap I do not understand why they do not provide shuttle until say 23.00.
The hotel is for either honeymoon couples or for people at the age of 60 or above. It's really quite and calm so perfect for relaxing meanwhile it may get a bit boring if you stay more than 3 days.
There are no in house activities as complimentary except for the yoga classes that takes place every morning very early. which i think is the don side of the hotel.

Maya Ubud is the perfect place for people looking for quiet days and a bit of luxury. The staff - all of them - are incredibly friendly. The hotel is situated about a mile from Ubud village. No chance to walk there, but there is a regular shuttle bus, unfortunately only as late as 5pm. Garden villas are a great deal, a house of one's own, where you see no one else. Try to get one in the southern part of the hotel, the north is a bit closer to the road and the noise is at least audible. The hotel grounds - including a "nature walk" along the river - are BIG, we needed more than an hour to cover most of them. The rooms are perfectly clean and lovingly decorated, the breakfast is simply wonderful. Dinners are not exactly cheap, but certainly worth the money, with regular performances (dance etc.) that go along with the meals. We didn't try the spa, but it looked very nice. The architect who built all this must have been a genius - you have the feeling that you are outside all the time, and the rice fields are nearby.

Room Tip: Garden villas in the northern part are close to the road, so you hear the noise of cars and motorbik...

We stayed at the Maya for 5 nights with our two young children. The hotel is ideally located to the centre of Ubud and is a great location for day trips to other parts of the island. The facilities and service are excellent and every care is taken care of. The staff made a special effort for the children and knew our names immediately.

This hotel used to be a perennial favorite. Sadly to say the general state is deteriorating. Several things in the garden villa were falling apart, not working 100%, sink blocked for example. TV is situated so it is not watchable from the bed. Overpriced. Buffet Breakfast excellent. Staff generally very unobtrusive and helpful, although efforts were made to engender more business for the hotel, which some guests might find helpful. We found it greedy. Probably last visit.

Family stayed their for 3 nights in a pool villa which was really good. I was hoping for a valley view but only garden surrounded by bushes, but still a good villa.

Great gardens, buffet breakfast good especially sitting on the deck overlooking valley....except for the smokers. I hate people smoking at breakfast but they do ...plonk themselves next to you and light up puff puff puff.... with kids and all, anyway enough.

What really stood out to me was the river pool overlooking valley with river below......was brilliant.

I spent most of 2 very relaxing days in that river pool and didn't really miss going to Ubud that much which seems to get busier....and more like Kuta every time we go there.

Room Tip: I wouldn't bother getting a pool villa as we hardly used. Main pool and river pool are great poo...
