“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

I don't know where the negative-nancies stayed, but it could not have been here.
The staff was friendly, courteous, attentive, and present. They offered suggestions on how to get around, and let us know what to avoid.

Our room was had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was clean. The appliances worked and we had an ample supply of clean towels. The bed was comfortable. We had a nice river view. However, the view of Cincinnati at night was marred/obstructed by the I-71/I-75 bridge.

There was a train bridge nearby; didn't hear any trains. There were a TON of kids; didn't hear them. We saw them the next morning at breakfast. I was surprised we did not hear running in the halls, doors slamming, etc. Didn't know there were that many at this hotel.

Breakfast was loaded with carbs, but, it's vacation!! Breakfast was tasty. The staff did its best to keep up with the crush of customers on this morning.

The hotel looked like it was out-of-the-way, but it wasn't hard to navigate to Cincinnati or to Newport from the Hampton.

Somebody commented on the liquor establishments. I, too, was amazed at the sheer amount of liquor stores. There were three just outside the front door, and a much larger fourth within an easy walk. That said, what wasn't present was the loiterers associated with such a place. People were in and out, no lingering. No one was panhandling.

Anyway, I hope this review helps you make a good decision. We are glad we chose this place to stay.

From the moment we arrived the entire staff, Amber, Tim, Mark, Beth, and a couple more ladies whose names escape me were not only friendly, polite, and helpful, they treated my son like gold. They always had a smile, hug or a high five for him. They even gave him two stuffed animals. The breakfast staff, Claudia and Bill are just lovely people, kind and personable. The housekeeping staff that we met was super nice and gave us the extra things we needed.

The rooms are nice and in good repair, all the usual amenities are there. The indoor pool was popular with my son and was in good condition and clean. The whole hotel was clean. Breakfast had variety and plenty of choices along with waffle makers. The business center computers were fast and new.

If I'm in the area again, I will absolutely return and stay.

We stayed here for two nights to see the Red's play. Great choice. When we first got here, we were a little worried since it is not exactly an easy walk to the stadium, and the hotel shares a parking lot with a couple of liquor stores. But once inside, we realized it was a great choice. First, no problem getting to the games--there is a trolley for $1 that is a 2 minutes away that goes through downtown to the other side of the areas south of the River. The people were very nice at the hotel, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the Hampton provided breakfast was more then enough to start the day. Lots of places to eat in the immediate area from fast food to some nice places on Mainstrasse which was a very easy little walk. Hampton Inn's are a good value brand and this place was no exception.

We needed a place close to the Univ of Cincinnati campus and this location was great. The staff was very friendly and the room was nice! We checked in late at night and it only took a few minutes. Wish we could have stayed longer and used the pool.

It is my opinion, that the poor services that we received from the houskeeping staff was based on not leaving a tip on a daily(we usually leave a tip at the end of our stay)However, the staff should be reminded that they work for a corporation, and should perform their best even if they don't get a tip,or not assumed they will not get one.

I apologize you received poor service from housekeeping while staying with us. It is not necessary to tip housekeeping and left to each guest discretion, however they do appreciate when a tip is received. I promise to look into the service issue and correct it for future guests.

Room was clean and everything worked. Free wifi a plus. Beds were comfortable. Checkin was quick and personnel helpful. Breakfast was in line with price.
Coming back from the Reds baseball game they even had a security officer helping with parking.

Easy to find and location is great for riverfront activities. Check in was quick and price was a good value for this area. There were 4 of us in the room, with plenty of room and towels. Liked having a microwave and fridge. Love the squishy pillows and comfy beds. With all the Reds fans, it was surprising quiet. Would stay here again, if in the area. Side note... If you are a White Castle fans, this is one just down from the hotel!

Room Tip: We always ask for a higher floor.
