I have stayed at this pet friendly hotel on numerous occasions without incident, but never again.
I checked into the hotel in early December for one night. As soon as I arrived, I stated I was paying cash. Being tired I had forgotten to tell her about my dog prior to paying, so I apologized that I had forgotten and offered to pay the pet fee then. I was told "Don't worry about it, just sneak the dog out the side door in the morning." I shrugged it off, planning on fixing it in the morning. I should note at this point I had used my debit card to hold the reservation past 6pm. Upon checkout, trying not to get the gal in trouble, I politely said I'd forgotten to tell her about the dog and wanted to pay the fee. I was told not to worry about it.
Upon my return home, I found a pending fee against my debit card which posted two days later. I had been charged twice! After several conversations with various employees I was finally told that the owner was on vacation (in India) and a guy looking after the place came in every few days.
As of yesterday I was accused to lying, sneaking my dog in and saying that I can't pay for it. I submitted the cash receipt and proof of what had been charged to my account. I was told that nowhere on the receipt did it say I paid.
I asked if the hotel was independently owned or part of the chain. I was informed it was part of the chain, so I proceeded to the next logical step.
I registered my complaint with the Corporate customer service folk, telling them exactly what happened, including the fact that I was trying to be nice and not get the night gal into trouble. I also submitted the same paperwork to them, along with a copy of the receipt from my stay in November, proving it looked the same. All of this is now on record. This afternoon I received a call stating the money, minus the pet fee (as I expected) would be refunded.
Oh yes, I was also informed it would be in my best interest to find another hotel to stay at since I am no longer welcome there.
My suggestion is that if you wish to pay cash, have the person checking you in sign the receipt, stating it had been paid. Don't get hassled just because you want to pay cash.
So you don't have to look for the number in case you need it, the customer service number is [--]. They are very nice and are willing to work with you.
I am going to file this review with customer services so they have a copy in case of a dispute.
