“Staff and Setting make this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2010

Wonderful setting on the back waters .Bedrooms stylish, spacious balconies but access only by stairs .Amazing pool facilities but totally under utilised so rather souless Food in restaurant excellent but expensive. At least 40 minutes drive to old Cochin . All the staff provided excellent and friendly service. An ideal hotel to recover from jet lag and start your trip to Kerala

The sound proofing in this hotel is non existant. The first night, there were children screaming and racing up and down the corridors till the early hours .The second night a wedding reception was taking place in the conference centre right underneath our rooms .The music was so loud the furniture was vibrating in our room.Nice pool though and the restuarant was good .Suggest if you stay you ask for a room on the opposite from the conference centre .

I regret the inconvenience caused to you during your stay. There was a wedding function that night in the hall and your room was right above that. As the resort was full we could not relocate the guests to better rooms. We have taken corrective actions for the future. All music will be stopped in the hall after 10 pm and only light instrumental music will be allowed. We have already implemented this.

I once again apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.

The purpose of our stay was to visit Cochin. This hotel is just not anywhere near there - i mean, it took us 45 minutes to do any sightseeing. So it depends on why you are staying here. If you want to visit the backwaters go to Kumarakorn. Although this hotel is on a lake they don't have a boat or any way to enjoy the lake apart from staring at it from the pool's edge. The hotel rooms are a nice size but they were able to show us only 1 room that had even a partial view of the lake & garden. Most of the rooms look over the rooftops of other rooms or storage yard. They do have suites (maybe 8) on stilts that have litttle seating areas underneath that block the only views. If you are staying for a few days & are unable to visit the real backwaters these might be worth paying for.

Our resort is 12 Kms from the City center and is 15 mts by car. Unfortunately the highway was being made into 4 lane during your visit to Cochin which was the cause in congetion in traffic. This has been completeted now by the Govt and it takes less than 15 mts to reach the city.

We have house boats and country boats on hire. We do have backwater trip available in country boats 25 mts away from the resort.

The room you stayed are deluxe rooms which doesnt offer any view. We have 24 premium cottages which has a balcony. From the bed in the room you can gaze at the lake, or have a coffee in the balcony watching the sunset or watch the fishermen casting their net in the early morning.
We wish you would come back to enjoy the view from the cottages.

Ramada in Cochin is a great hotel, considering the cleanliness, the ambiance and massage and the location is perfect for leisure. I had a great stay with my young children there. We were treated very well by the reception and all the other staff. This was our very first destination and from here we headed to another 5 star hotel called Kumarakom Lake Resort where after one day stay I discovered that my 150 Euro shoes are missing. I immediately contacted our travel agent and he called the both hotels. Unfortunately no one in Ramada hotel not even cared to follow up the case. Kumarakom lake resort assured us that they have been following up but no trace of the shoes. Tragically, it happened in the first 3 days of my stay in India and left a bitter taste behind. Althought, I took our driver back to Ramada still no one knew anything about the guests property. It seemed to us that keeping your property it is not part of the managents’ plan in any of these hotels. Unfortunately, I cannot exactly say which one is to blame but I am sure that I was wearing the shoes when I went to Ramada and didn’t expect the pathetic question of whether if I had the shoes may be I had forgotten in the Taxi??? If you go to any of these places make sure you don’t leave anything in the safe or left behind of two reason: You will not only will see the color of it again but will be badgered with ridiculous questions which indeed shows the ignorance and irresponsibility and total lack of clear and strong processes regarding the quest’s property. I wonder how they would handle if something was broken in their hotel by the guests, same cool attitude!!!
