“KOA Campground Kentucky Lake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Campground was very nice, unfortunately the dinner we had at the Restaurant was very bad. Catfish was like eating sole of shoe. There is a large marina at the campground and you can rent pontoon boats there. The area was beautiful and the individuals at the check-in were nice. I would rate higher except for the restaurant.

This was the first time we have ever been to Kentucky on a vacation. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous! The cabin was very comfortable, spacious, and clean. We were given plenty of towels, toilet paper ect. The refrigerator could be a little bigger, considering we were there for 7 nights, and the grocery stores are so far out of the way to keep having to run for this and that. The downside to the cabin was we ran into an ant problem in the kitchen and bathroom areas, but a maintenance worker came within 24 hours, and took care of the problem.

The only real big disappointment was the fishing. I guess we came after Lake Barkely had been flooded, and the fishing was terrible. My husband had even spoke to a man at the docks, and asked if this was his first time there, and the man stated that he had been coming there for over 30 years, and this was the first time he had seen such terrible fishing himself. So, it wasn't anything the resort did, it was Mother Nature that had spoiled that part. We were overall very happy with our visit, and got some much needed relaxation time. We will return again, someday.

We drove out of the way to spend the night at this campground and experienced just an average stay since our assigned site was somewhat isolated on the backside near longterm sites, not clean, and the nearby bathroom was not air conditioned (on a hot September day). We later discovered there were beautiful, paved lakeside sites available near the front of the camp and private, air conditioned bathrooms (which required a pretty good walk from our site, but well worth it). We should have requested to move, and would have most likely rated our experience higher.

Room Tip: Well worth it to pay for the lakeside, paved premium spaces near the front.

Tricia,

Thank you so much for the review! We are sorry that you did not like your site, we do wish however that you would come to us and requested to be moved. As long as we have sites available we can look into moving you to a different area on the resort. Thank you for the compliment on the beautiful lake side sites and the review, we hope to see you again soon, on one of those Premium sites with an awesome water view!

The scenery is beautiful and our campsite was right on the water. We have a 35 foot fifth wheel camper and it was very difficult to get around the campground and into the site. Be very cautious if you have a big camper and call and make sure you can fit in the site. There are pull through sites but they require sharp turns to get out of and the site we were in was down hill making if very hard and unsafe to get into and out of - we could not pull through - we had to back in. It was very pricey to stay here, but with all the amenities, I thought it would be worth the extra cost. It would have been, if we had gotten all the amenities - the wireless internet was not working, the honey wagon did not come and dump us when they were suppose to (it took 3 visits to the desk and two days to finally get this done), the giant waterslide was not up, the iceberg was not out at the times it was suppose to be (two nights it was brought in at least an hour early) and one day it was not out at all, the iceberg when it was out was not secured and flipped over (very dangerous situation - a teenager was out in a boat monitoring it and he just played on his phone the whole time), lots of teenagers were running things and were not helpful and some very rude. When we checked in I said we need to check into the campground and she rolled her eyes at me and under her breath said campground and laughed - guess it is not a campground. It was difficult to find check in and we also received no help in showing us where our site was - all the golf carts were out. The "campground" is older and shows its age. Disappointed in this KOA for the money. If you like to be close to a town or Walmart, this "campground" is not for you.

the cabin needed repairs and the windows needed a good cleaning and the spots for the firepits and places to sit could be bigger you feel like your on top of each other. If you have kids it's best you go on the weekend that's when they did the most stuff they had nothing during the week for kids and the restaurant wasn't open half the time.

We have never stayed here overnight, but always use their boat rentals. The boats are in better condition than other rentals in the area and are always a better value. Lake Barkley/Lake Kentucky are the most beautiful lakes! Great fishing and you'll always see eagles!

This was our first trip to prizer point and we absolutely loved it! There were so many activities for everyone as well as a beautiful view of lake Barkley. We caught some nice fish right off the bank, my children loved the jumping pillows and my older teens loved the inflatable iceberg and paddle boats. Even my youngest children could playa long in the wonderful kiddie pool. Which was no way just for kids! They have TWO pools! As well as pedal cars to stroll around in and an outdoor movie at night! a game room and clean showers and a laundry. Just so much to mention. Even an on site resturaunt! They really did think of everything and have everyone's interest in mind. Whether you enjoy the lake out boating or fishing or the campfire poolside, or love all the activity for the children, they have you covered! We can't wait to go back! I am a mother of ten children and it has been a challenge to find a place where EVERYONE from the youngest to oldest is happy. But I found it in prizer point!
