When I was a very little girl I had dinner once on the screened porch of the Doe Run Inn, looking out over the creek where deer were grazing in the mist of the twighlight. I never forgot it. When my husband and I planned a trip through Kentucky I told him we just had to find out if it was still open. I am so glad we did. It was just as beautiful as ever. The rooms are fantastic - the pictures do not do them justice. The property is incredible - a short walk through the woods takes you to a waterfall. The food is as good and Southern as any place I've ever been. Don't be scared off from the low prices, just thank your lucky stars. It's more than worth the price. The room we stayed in was built by Abe Lincoln's dad, by the way.
