“Fantastic food, wonderful views & great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

Ira is a wonderful host. Willing to provide whatever we needed whenever. Made us feel like this was our home! We've never stayed at a B & B that cooked breakfast to order & had homemade dessert waiting for us @ 10pm. The food is incrediable because evrything is fresh. The bed was so comfortable i never wanted to get up. A beautiful bathroom with mountainview windows. Loved it all. The only thing it didn't have was WiFi, but we didn't miss it after the first hour.

Our family (4 adults in 2 rooms) stayed at the Pinnacle for two nights in October 2011. The Pinnacle is a newer property, and our room, the Belle, was spacious and comfortable. There are two locations in the house to gather with others or to tuck yourself away for time to read.

The Inn is open in design and you will be made welcome to roam and grab a drink or snack whenever you like. You won't go hungry while at the Pinnacle--Ira, the owner, and Gina, Ira's apprentice, prepare the breakfast of your choosing (our favorites were omelets and eggs benedict) at the time you want to eat. Save room in the evening because Ira will tempt you with a delicious dessert.

You can most likely walk off the calories with a tour of Berea or a hike at a nearby falls. Just ask Ira, and he'll steer you in the right direction.

This was our first experience with a B&B for my wife and I, so maybe we're just "newbies" who don't quite understand the concept yet. However we were surprised by a couple of things at the Pinnacle Inn.

First off, the GOOD: Ira is fascinating! Extremely intelligent, accomodating, articulate, interesting. Very proud of his B&B and the green work that went into building it. The place itself is beautiful, not to mention the incredible view. The Keurig coffee makers in each room are great....I drank what I wanted and my wife drank what she wanted. Beds are incredibly comfortable and (if the weather and season permits) you can sleep w/the windows open and listen to the crickets chirping in the fields PLUS be awakened by cows mooing and a rooster crowing off in the distance....we loved it! And just like everyone else has said, breakfast was delicious!

Now for the stuff that we were surprised by: a huge open kitchen where the dirty dishes from the night before, the breakfast before, etc., are in plain view from the minute the guest walks in the front door. Our suggestion: close off the kitchen so the guests don't see the mess.

Ira's open area office on the 2nd floor that is in plain view (and messy....sorry, Ira!). Our suggestion: privatize the office somewhere so that the guests don't see the mess.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon after check in hours but our room wasn't ready. Ira did state that they'd been full up the night before, but there was only one other couple at the B&B at the same time as us, and they arrived after us. Our suggestion: If you know you have incoming guests, get THEIR room ready first, then the other rooms.

After dinner in Berea (go to Papleno's for pizza....yum!!!), my wife said she hoped she could watch "Desperate Housewives" on the one TV in the place, but when we walked in Ira and the housekeeper / cook were watching Sunday Night Football. He did invite us to join, but we're neither one football fans so we declined and went to our room. Our suggestion: the guests "wants" come first. If there's only 1 TV, let the guests have first dibs.

Ira had asked us what time we wanted breakfast the next morning (9:00), so we walked down at about 2 minutes till. But breakfast wasn't ready and the other couple was still eating. So we waited on the back patio for about 15 minutes drinking coffee. Then Ira said we could come in. Once seated, we were left at the table with the other couples dirty dishes and a full view of the dirty pots and pans of their breakfast PLUS a full view of Ira and the cook cooking our breakfast. This wouldn't have been as big a deal if the cook hadn't informed Ira that she wasn't fond of blueberries....as she was cooking my blueberry pancakes. Our suggestion, again: close off the kitchen so the guests aren't watching the food prep and clean up. And clean off the table from the previous guests.

One final suggestion: add some more comfortable chairs to the rooms and especially the front porch. That view is too gorgeous to be wasted in an uncomfortable chair! ;)

Again, this was our first time at a B&B and experienced B&Ber's may be rolling their eyes at our silly complaints. However the suggestions that we've listed would have made OUR stay much nicer, so that's why we made them.

Overall, though, we had a very nice time and absolutely LOVED hiking the Pinnacles!!!

This B&B has gorgeous mountain views, and the warm and gracious hospitality of owner Ira will make you feel instantly at home. He provided delicious home-made desserts in the evening, and made-to-order breakfasts in the morning. Rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious, and we especially liked the Lee room with its giant whirlpool bathtub.

I have stayed in several B and B's but the Pinnacle View is by far the best yet, may have spoiled me for any others. Owner Ira Bates is a perfect host, chef and conversationalist. He has built a beautiful home and I am so glad he wants to share it. From beautiful views to tasty evening desserts and made to order breakfast, perfection! Awesome gravy, Gina!
Never wanted to leave but I will be back.
