“Would like to make this our "Ole Kentucky Home" away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Recently, my husband and I stayed two nights at the Beautiful Dreamer Bed and Breakfast located in Bardstown, Kentucky and we had a wonderful experience. The B&B is beautiful and perfectly located for touring the Bourbon Trail and other sites in the area. Our room "The Beautiful Dreamer" offered us one of the most relaxing and comfortable rooms we have ever stayed in while traveling. Our host and hostess greeted us when we arrived and explained all of the amenities available to us and the breakfast schedule. Snacks, DVD'S and morning coffee were available daily. Breakfast was served family style and was delicious. At breakfast we enjoyed the opportunity to meet and chat with some of the other guests and with our hosts. As an added pleasure, we had made reservations to attend a performance of the Stephen Foster Story" a musical performed at My Old Kentucky Home State Park Amphitheatre just down the road from the B&B and received a credit to our room charge for the price of the tickets. It was a great performance and a very enjoyable evening and a wonderful stay. We hope to return next year.

This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. Dan and Lynell were most gracious, courteous, and friendly. The house was spotless. There were books, movies, all kinds of reading materials, and games in every room of the house. There were delicious cupcakes awaiting us when we checked into our room. There was a well stocked mini fridge with all kinds of cold drinks and a snack table that was always full of fruit and treats. There was fresh coffee on the snack bar when we awoke the next morning.

Comfortable chairs on the upstairs veranda were very inviting. The view of the Old Kentucky Home grounds was very beautiful.

The full breakfast was delicious. Martha Stewart has nothing on Lynell as her apron even matched her china pattern. Dan's homemade pineapple preserves were to die for.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Beautiful Dreamer room. What a beautiful room. The bed was a very comfortable 4 p...

Clean, close to downtown, great breakfast, beautiful rooms, nice snacks/drinks - I was so glad we picked this B&B for our first trip to Bardstown. The owners are friendly and know a lot about the town. It's directly across from My Old Kentucky Home and the Stephen Foster Story - So be sure to make time for those!

Room Tip: We Stayed in the Beautiful Dreamer suite and it was a great size, nice furnishings. It's on the...

Wonderful place to stay in Bardstown. Hosts Dan and Lynell could not be more pleasant and accomodating, and Lynell fixes a really excellent breakfast. She makes grits like she means it.

Right across the highway from the Stephen Foster home, although in the spring and summer all you'll see is the leaves on the trees from the comfortable, inviting upstairs front porch. No matter. Just set a spell, and look at the leaves.

Rooms are nicely furnished; if you want a tub, choose one of the ones other than Federal.

Warmly recommended.

We had decided to cancel our reservation in Louisville and try a B&B in the little town of Bardstown. We were not disappointed. The town is delightful and the Beautiful Dreamer is one of the best B&B experiences that we have had. Our room was very well appointed with a comfortable bed and wing back chairs. The hot water was a bit slow getting to the shower but was fine once it arrived. The common guest areas were very nice and the breakfast was a gracious plenty to behold. We noticed that the property is for sale. It would make and excellent turn key business for a couple desiring a career in the hospitality business.

This 4-room guest house has all the charm and amenities you desire in a B&B, including gracious hosts, on-site parking, and close proximity to all the attractions. The owners take great pride in their home as evidenced in the spotless and beautiful rooms. Our room, the Federal Room, was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Outside our room on the second level was a mini-fridge stocked with beverages of all kinds and a table laid out all day with snacks and fruit. Coffee service was added to the table every morning around 7 a.m., a nice touch before the homemade gourmet breakfast which was served daily at 9 a.m. We had the house to ourselves during our recent 2-nite stay and felt like we were at home. We highly recommend this B&B if you need a place to stay in Bardstown.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Federal Room which has the most comfy bed I've ever slept in besides my own!

Husband and I just returned from a stay at the Beautiful Dreamer. This B&B is located away from downtown Bardstown in a lovely residential area. There's a huge second-level front porch that runs the length of the front (you can see it in the pictures) and overlooks My Old Kentucky Home. Would be stunning in the spring/summer.

It is impossible to say a bad word about the hosts - they were extremely accommodating and welcoming, and so sweet. It was not very busy when we were there, so we mostly had the place to ourselves. The parlor has a variety of board games and tons of information about the area. Breakfast was excellent and very plentiful - homemade French toast with strawberry syrup made by the hosts & fresh whipped cream; fruit salad; sausages; eggs; skillet potatoes; endless coffee and tea, and several kinds of juices. There was enough food for double the number of guests and it was all delicious and fresh. When we checked in to our room, there were homemade oatmeal cookies waiting for us.

This B&B would be ideal if you want to be close to downtown (takes about 2 minutes) but are taking in My Old Kentucky Home or want a relaxing retreat. Lynelle is a talented singer and very well versed in the history of Bardstown & Stephen Foster. They've been in business longer than just about anyone in town and I can see why. Very well done!

Room Tip: Beautiful Dreamer is the biggest room with a 2 person jacuzzi tub.
