I feel like we really lucked out by stumbling upon Mammy's. We were driving from Knox to Lexington and needed to stop somewhere for dinner. The place is centrally located in downtown Bardstown and it was hoppin on a Friday night. That's all we needed. It was me, my husband, and our 1 year old. It was pretty packed so we were standing, waiting on a table, when a couple sitting at a 4-top offered to let us sit with them. We took them up on it and had a really nice chat as they finished their dinner and we started ours. They recommended the hot brown and a piece of pie, which is exactly what we had. I'm from KY so I'm no stranger to the hot brown, but this was SO much better. They used a cream sauce instead of just cheese and it was topped with bacon. Apparently, sometimes they top it with country ham, it just depends on the night. It was extremely filling, but we decided to split a piece of butterscotch pie. (they also had coconut, which seemed to be a favorite that night.) For everything, I believe it was about $35, which we thought was quite reasonable for 2 at dinner. I can, without a doubt, say that it's the best hot brown I've ever had. And it was a pretty darn good piece of pie, too. We'll definitely be back. What a gem the Bardstown people have. I'm so jealous!
