“Can't beat the location for the Old Town experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

I stayed a week in this hotel with a friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Next time I would suggest the rooms in the front for the view. The catering by Larkspur was delicious. We held a business meeting at the hotel and the staff did a fine job of making sure everything went off without a hitch. The nightlife surrounding the hotel was excellent. Be sure to stop by Oeno's for wine and music, $5 movie night Wednesdays at the theater (they serve outstanding food with first run movies).

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms in the front and on the corners

We stayed at this hotel on the second night of a 2-week trip through OK, KS, TX, and NM. There were 3 adults and 3 children in our party and we booked a suite room that would accomodate 6 persons. If you are considering this hotel you probably have already seen that it is in an old converted warehouse in the "Old Town" area of Wichita. There are trendy restaurants surrounding the hotel, and, judging from the Friday night crowds, it is a popular place to be. The hotel has an attractive central open atrium with water features but no pool.

Parking at the hotel is limited to two lots, and they charge $8 per night to use the lots. There are free lots nearby, but who wants to carry luggage down and across streets? The free lots were full on Friday night in any case. Considering the high price of this hotel I think they should scap the extra fee.

Our room on the third floor was a very LARGE rectangle with 2 beds and a sleeper sofa. No separation between the bed area and the living area--just a large open room. No microwave, no refrigerator, one tv set, a desk, and a couple of chairs and end tables completed the room. While there was plenty of floor space there was no surface provided for placing a suitcase.

The bathroom was also huge--aprox. 6'x20'--but very ordinary. A single sink, toilet, and tub/shower all in one space. Again, plenty of open space for a couple of suitcase racks but none were provided.

In a room designed for 6 people one would expect that the hotel would have bedding in the room for the sleeper sofa, and sufficient towels, but there were only towels for 3 people and no bedding. A call to the front desk fixed this, but why did it take a call when they knew in advance that 6 persons were staying in the room?

There is an on-site restaurant for breakfast, however room service in the evening is catered into the hotel from an outside establishment.

I have never experienced such terrible service on multiple occasions than I did at this hotel. I made the reservation months in advance as this was a weekend for several friends to get together and I wanted to make sure rooms would be available. I called to confirm with the front desk and was told I had no reservation and they were completely booked. No apology, no let me see if I can help you out, nothing. There were other friends staying here so we did want to all be at the same hotel. I was too mad so I had my husband call back to speak with the manager to complain and she just happen to have a room available this time. Upon check-in, I was told by the front desk that the charge would be $70 more than originally quoted. I objected and she was incredibly rude. I told her that I had experienced problems from the get-go with this reservation and she could not have cared less. We asked to speak with the manager and she said she was the manager on duty. Ultimately, we left and stayed at Hotel at Old Town where the people were very kind, the rooms were cheaper and the parking was free. Courtyard by Marriott is probably just fine for you as long as you don't have any problems with the reservations, if you do than don't expect these rude employees to help you out at all.

I stayed here four nights. It was a comfortable stay. I was greeted and recognized for my platnium status, I was surprise at the $8 parking fee. There is free public parking within walking distance, a good option. The room was large with frig, chair, flat screen and comfortable bed. The interior is nicely designed with a center interior courtyard with a soothing fountain in the center. The fitness room is one of the best. All the equipment has flat screen tvs and the equipment is in good condition. There are free weights, bottled water, towels and a restroom. There is a whirlpool just across the hall. The fitness center is open 24 hours. The surround Old Town area is nice. There are plenty of local resturants, very mordern theater all within walking distance. The breakfast was good. There is a manned omlette and waffle station.

The free in room high speed internet was terrible! I could get no more that 5 MBPS. Most of the time it was 1. It was dificult getting a signal with my wireless card. If this is important to you I did see people using the lobby. The signal may have been stronger there.

Overall good stay and above average Courtyard except there is no pool.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor face front

The rooms are good enough, but if you hope to have a quiet night of sleep do NOT stay here on the weekend. The musicians at the outdoor bar area can be heard LOUD and clear in the room, even over the tv, and it doesn't stop until the wee hours of the morning. There are restaurants and a movie theater within walking distance, but this convenience doesn't make up for the loss of sleep.

Parking is horrible, if you want to park on there lot you have to pay, all other lots are free parking. Hotel rooms are nicely appointed and large, front desk is great, bell hop has a horrible attitude.
Within walking distance to everything and actually very quite inside.

I booked my stay through Priceline's bidding process and was surprised in many ways. This hotel is in the HEART of Wichita's best entertainment district. The parking is scarce, but I easily found a secure hotel spot onsite. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms are the best I've found in Wichita. I was disappointed with a "north" view, but quickly learned to appreciate the location when I realized how loud the nightlife could be on the south side of the hotel. The entertainment choices within walking distance of this location are amazing, the room was very nice, and this hotel has become my favorite destination in Wichita. I cannot wait to return with my wife for a weekend. I'd also love to bring a group of friends to this location.

Room Tip: Unless you like thumping music, avoid south rms.
