“Ever so tastey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

Our service was great, drinks good & stong not watered down in any way. Our waiter helped us decide what to order, and he made amazing choices. Filet medalions for myself, plantain crusted Mahi for him. Great choices, good food, great service.

“Hit & Miss”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

This restaurant has appeal and some good food but misses the mark on many levels. My sister and I ordered a shared plate that was supposed to include chorizo (one of the more interesting meat selections) and when the server brought the plate there was no chorizo. When we informed the server she simply shrugged, said they were out at had substituted extra pork, the pork was boring and bland. The flank steak (pounded very thin) was very flavorful and the roast chicken was okay, cheddar mashed potatoes and slaw were excellent. We ordered warm churros for dessert which came with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce, it sounded really good until we realizied the sauces were both cold and tasted like cheap ice cream topping. In my opinion you could have a good meal here if you were very selective about what you order but it probably wouldn't justify the price.

“Excellent Latin Restaurant!”

We ate there and literally devoured the mussel appetizer. It was awesome! Their menu is interesting & varied. The food was all wonderful & we'll be back. It was great!

“A talented chef reinvents Latin American food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2012

I give very few 5 star ratings. Sabor certainly earns their rating. Starting from the standard lineup of Latin American food, the chef here has modified traditional food ingredients and preparations with his own ideas. The food is really wonderful. Meats (beef, pork, chicken) are prepared in marinades or sauces that highlight the flavor and cooked to the right degree - all of them. The salsas offered are all original ideas. It's almost as if the chef was trying to prepare the tasting equivalent of a rainbow of colors. Salsas had different degrees of hot peppers, different degrees of sweetness, the taste of fresh vegetables, and . . . you'll just have to try them yourself to get an adequate description.

There are a limited number of restaurants I know around the nation that have a talented chef reinventing Latin foods. This is now my favorite, even more inventive than the wonderful Adobo Grill in Indianapolis. Remember when the top Latin food used to be in LA or New York? Although people used to say about places "it's a good restaurant for Wichita", you can say about Sabor "It's an excellent restaurant" without any geographic restrictions.
